Fisher = The Man

Post#1 » by 3-Pt_Shooter » Fri Jun 18, 2010 6:06 am

Derek Fisher just came out of the locker room (ala Willis Reed) and knocked down a huge 3-pointer to tie the game, which gave the Lakers the momentum to finish the C's off. This guy just makes big shots when we need them most. I love you D!!! :D

I want to see Fish play a year or two more and retire to the front office
and eventually become the Head Coach.

If he wanted to he could be the assistant coach and move on to head.

He has a great basketball IQ and learned from the best.

That three pointer was the turning point of the game. Their 2-4 point lead felt like 10, every time we got close they'd make it a two possession game again. Fish's shot changed the momentum of the game. It was a "**** this, we're not losing" shot.

I'll never debase Fish again after these playoffs. He's earned a lifetime pass.

The thing is Fisher still thinks he should be starting and would never go 2 phil saying he needs 2 go 2 the bench cuz he dosnt cut it anymore. We all know Phil will play Fisher 35+ Mins a game even if there are better options so Fisher gose or Phil gose and i vote for Fisher 2 go. Now if Fisher comes back and in the contract it states he cant play more then 10 Mins a game i wouldnt have a problem with him for another year but that wont happen.

?????

Fisher was a HUGE part of the team. He was the primary ball handler after kobe yesterday. He played AMAZING against the 'best pgs' of the league throughout the entire playoffs.

and you want him out ?

I sympathize. I was saying the same thing not two months ago, and worse. But I think he's proven this years playoffs and last year in the FINALS (not the rest of the PO's where he stunk) that there is an intangible quality he brings to the team, and his capacity for hitting GIGANTIC shots like the one he hit tonight (and in game 3), you can't take that off the team.

I would like for us to bring in a starting quality PG, maybe a Kirk Hinrich or something, but I am all for Fish coming off the bench. He needs to be on this team. We need him to be on this team. I am only now starting to realize this.

I don't care of Fisher is our starting PG or not next year. But we can't get rid of him all together. He's such an experienced vet, fan favorite, and not to mention a clutch player when it matters most for our team. Bring in another young PG that can learn from Fish but please lets do what we can to keep him in the fold.

That three to tie it at 64 was huge. Fisher has done some great things for the Lakers and the Lakers will always keep the door open for him. He should be a Laker lifer like Kurt Rambis or James Worthy. But that said, he's clearly a major weakness at this point in his career. It's not the poor offense either - that they can live with. It's the horrible defense and there's no excuse for it as much as the media try to defend him. He'd be great in spot minutes where he could hit big shots and provide leadership. If But if Phil refuses to bench him, the decision should be taken out of his hands and Fisher shouldn't be re-signed.

Fisher's a true Champion and one of the greatest Lakers of all time, but that doesn't mean the team can't look to the future.

Like i keep saying the and people dont get the point if Fisher would only play 10 mins a game at most not 1 person would have a problem with him on the team the thing is he dosnt play 10 mins max a game he plays close to 30. While Phil can use him he will tell Fisher tells Phil to start someone else over him like Luke Walton did for Ariza and we all know how that turned out. Phil or Fisher have 2 go and Phil is a zillion times more important then Fisher so good riddance fisher. He wants 2 be selfish then he can go else where.

People acting like Fisher knows a lot he really dosnt. look at the game the guy shoots way more ill avized shots on the team not named Kobe. They guy still hasnt learned when to go under screens or over. the only thing the guy can do is flop on screens. Lol and oo boy his lapse of def is really bad. The guy always looks lost on DEF. Outside of spot up shooting fisher has never done anything.

People want to talk about Leadership lol why dose need 2 be on the court 30+ mins a game to lead the team he can do it on the bench. Then you got people willing to offer him 3 mil a year are u freaking kidding me he should get not a dime more then vets min he can take it or leave it. We hardballed Kobe(he won) we hardballed Odem(We won) we hard balled Ariza (Artest Won) we hard balled Bynum (TBD) we have are hard balling Phil (TBD) yet we cant hard ball this scrub(on the court he is a scrub lets be honest) lol name me 1 team that would give him more then the vets min so you can see how little he is worth.

I would give Fish the vets minimum and bring in a PG good enough to take his minutes down to 15 or so. He will probably stink it up during the season next year too but he brings it in the playoffs.

The trick is to get a PG good enough to justify to Phil playing him big minutes over Fish. And we all know how much Phil loves Fish, whoever we bring in is going to have to be SIGNIFICANTLY better to guarantee that.
