LOL. Which one was it?

Whether the organization / Pritchard has less leverage due to his job status.

Sorry, was on my phone at the time and hate trying to post on here with it.

Here was my text word for word: has the doubt about your future hurt the organization's leverage in trade negotiations.. and then Canzano added at the end: "are they taking your calls?"

Pritchard answered affirmatively that they were taking his calls.

What I found interesting is how he pointed out that all teams are swinging for the fences and trying for big trades but to do so you have to be willing to take back a lot of salary. he then said Paul Allen has been willing to do it if it makes the team better. He then went on to say, when do you do these type of trades, before the draft, at the draft or later in the summer.

It just sounded a lot like what we've been discussing in this thread. The timing question throws a curve-ball into it for me though.

given paul allen's health concerns and how well boston did trading youth for proven talent, I'm thinking he's leaning towards a win now mindset rather than a decade-long playoff/"championship" run. add to that our prize from free agency was a 34 year old andre miller and the recent extension of a 36 year old marcus camby, and the push for acquiring talent instead of growing it organically starts to make sense.

that said, tim duncan seems like a great target. the suns series has shown that the spurs aren't contenders. trading parker, one of the younger members on their team, instead of a 34 year old declining duncan, doesn't make much sense long-term. maybe the spurs would consider cashing out on duncan now before he deteriorates, especially if it could land them a young texas-raised replacement in aldridge, a player they tried to draft in batum, serviceable youth in rudy/bayless, and salary relief/a big man they previously attempted to sign in pryzbilla.

if amare is definitely leaving phoenix, nash also fits the bill. but he was already discussed, and I question how much of an upgrade he would be over miller.

I'd love a move for dirk, and after another first round playoff loss, it'd make sense for dallas to consider rebuilding, but I just can't see cuban trading dirk, whereas pritchard used to work under buford, so it seems more likely they'd work together.

So at what point does the rumor start to hit national media such as ESPN about potential trade talks. In no way am I discrediting TBPup or saying he is some sort of liar/phony. However, if the trade talks are not necessairly dead and still going on, when does it reach people like Chad Ford or Stein over on ESPN?

It seems most times under two conditions do they usually get leaked to the press. 1. when its imminent and a sure thing; 2. once its dead

Exactly. When did Stein or Ford find out about the Dalembert for Nocioni/Hawes trade?

I have no knowledge of TBPup or his sources, so I cannot vouch for him. But, just because the national media doesn't also have the story means nothing.

Usually very true. That there is so little out there sometimes is a good thing. Even the details shared on this one are not as numerous as usual but a couple of people have been fairly adamant about one thing.

TBPup - Can you say whether the questioned target wears Nike, Addidas, Reebok?
