What would you give up for big name player?

Post#1 » by simsev23 » Sat Jun 19, 2010 1:05 am

If the Paul Allen Rumor is true about us getting a big name player, lets just say its carmelo. What would you give up. Assuming that Melo would agree to sign a max deal with us.
Assests:
Love
AL
Pekovic
Hollins
Brewer
Flynn
Sessions
Rubio
Gomes
4
16
23
2nd Rounders

I would not give up rubio in a deal for melo. I want him to be here when we get melo. Also i want brewer here if we got melo so he could play defense.

I would give up 4, Al, 16, and Flynn to get melo.
Is this to much?

It's far too much to give up for what could just be a potential one-year rental of Melo. Flynn would be surplus to requirements for them too, as they have Billups and Lawson already established in the system. I'd be reluctant to give up more than Al + 16, personally. I know Melo is an elite player but there is no guarantee he'd want to stay here and you can't give up too many assets in such a risky deal.

Their choice of Al or Love + 4.

I would give up 4th pick,Al or KLove and Sessions and Gomes.Something like that should be more then enough of a deal for the Nuggest to pull the triger and send Melo our way.But I wouldn't give up more the one of Rubio/Jefferson/Love if they wanted two of the three then I would say no.

I think you have to be willing to give up Rubio for a player Melo. It seems ridiculous not to. I''d give up 2 out of Love, Rubio and #4. I'd also be willing to give up other assets such as 16 or cap space, but that would be up for negotiation.

My bad, sir. In which case, I'd give up roughly the same as Worm Guts. Melo is proven elite-level talent and besides Big Al and Love (to obviously a lesser extent) we don't really have that anywhere on our roster, so yeah I'd definitely be willing to give up a bunch of valuable pieces provided it doesn't gut the team of its infrastructure.

One of Rubio, Al or Love + #4 + whatever else (cap space?) I would STILL probably be a little warey of doling out the #4 because we would still need pieces with which to build around Melo, and high lottery picks are essential for that building model to be successful. And maybe secretly I want a 'cuse trifecta with Flynn, Wes Johnson and Melo. :)

I'd give up anything but Rubio. Not cuz I think he's worth more or is better than Melo, but because I have far to much of my dignity riding on Rubio being a wolf. I tell everyone that he's coming and I can't handle being THAT wrong.

I would give up any assets as long as our team would be a contender. If not, then I see little point to getting a star player with no supporting cast. It would be the KG era all over again.

In that case, I'd give up anything.

if Melo comes with an extension: 4, 16, Love and Pek. would keep Rubles cuz him and Lo would be ill together.

I'd want to keep Al, Brewer, and Rubio. Everything else is up to trade. Love+4+Gomes+#23? It'd be cool if we could keep 4, but that'd be very unlikely. Unless we took back a bad deal..
