Re: VIA The Score Ticker: ESPN Reports Cavs contact Raptors
Here's the only way I even entertain an offer from Cleveland for Bosh:
Bosh and Calderon for Shaq + Hickson + 1st Round pick (they'll obviously have to buy this) + future 1st rounder + Delonte West, no conditions.
Toronto then waits until the regular season begins and New Orleans begin to suck, before offering Shaq and Hickson and the player we pick with a late pick we bought in the draft to New Orleans for Chris Paul.
New Orleans waives Shaq and keep Hickson as a young replacement for David West.
Toronto waives Delonte West.
Draft BPA's with our pick at 13 and the pick Cleveland bought and traded to us.
We lose Bosh, but gain Chris Paul and a bunch of young, athletic players who can run and take advantage of Paul.

So...then we're not dealing with Cleveland...

I appreciate the thought you put into this deal but who is to say that New Orleans would want those players? Any smart GM knows that you don't make deals assuming that another team is going to take on your spoiled goods, especially when they have a star player like Chris Paul that they would prefer to replace with another superstar or young talent. A team like New Orleans would not be trading Paul just so they can get cap space, because I'm not sure if you've heard yet but New Orleans isn't the hottest free-agent destination out there.

bosh/calderon/turkoglu to MIA for beasley/fillers
MIA has cap space to absorb him.

What Cleveland should trade to get is Andrea not Chris....
**Andrea is the better fit especially since he can make shots off passes and is not ball dominant** this way Lebron is still the primary ball handler and they don't really need a point gaurd like mo to can only score and nothing else besides that. Ship antawn's ass and play the varajao and Andrea front court.

I saw him play a couple of times in Vegas last summer. Their roster didn't really interest me so I opted for the Warriors or Clippers instead when I had the chance.
Anyway, he is a terrific athlete. The dunks he was pulling in warmup were ridiculous. More explosive than DeRozan, probably a bit more length also. Can score around the basket but can't really shoot, and isn't physically strong enough to defend yet. But he was 20 years old, and the idea was that they would stash him in Europe and wait for him to develop. Apparently Cleveland changed their minds after his good summer league showing and wanted to sign him and have him play in the D League last season, but he opted to go back to Spain instead on a 3 year deal.
If ever there were a time when our unique executives could offer us insight - it's into Eyenga, a player from the Congo (Ujiri's domain), who has been playing the last few years professionally in Europe (Gherardini's domain). If this guy is actually a really good prospect surely the Raps brass above all others would know about it. You would hope, anyway.
I'll address this post first. Your brass knows about Eyenga, in fact, they are the reason Eyenga was in NY for the draft last year. Eyenga- who was known to almost no one (except you guys) and wasn't even considered a draft prospect- was in NY. The Cavs caught wind of it (you guys wanting to get Eyenga with your second rounder) and decided to pick him with our first.
I think you did a pretty good job of describing him. He is as athletic as they come, right up there with Lebron. The guy can jump and run like a maniac. He's extremely raw, though, IIRC he's only played basketball for a few years. Besides his athleticism, he's got the length. He can play some defense but certainly needs to bulk up. He needs more knowledge of the game. Luckily for him, he is extremely smart. Last year after the draft, he was brought into Cleveland for some benefit (I think it was a local park) and barely said a sentence (I think he looked up how to say thanks and little things like that). He now speaks English about as well as an average NBA player.
If he isn't traded, he'll be playing on the Cavs SL team again, but we expect him to be overseas 1-2 more years.
About his athleticism: You guys can certainly youtube his name, but here are the dunks he did during the warm ups that the poster was talking about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj6_TTlNaTc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkFuB-tIdPY&NR=1
And a couple videos showing his leaping ability:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL7Npo8i ... re=related
Alright, as far as Shaq goes: I don't see anyway he goes to Toronto, nor do I see a way where the Cavs are in a position to S&T him. With Kobe's recent comments, I have to believe Shaq is looking to go to a contender to try to get even. Just my feelings, but I think they are pretty logical. You guys also have to realize that for a S&T, the contract has to be 3 years in length with the first year guaranteed. You can't have him S&T'ed for 25 mil, 5 mil guaranteed. You could try to buy him out for that, but then again, Shaq does have four rings and a difference of 20 mil is a lot to pass up.
If I had to take a stab at it, I would think a deal would look like this:
Mo
Andy
JJ
Delonte (bought out)
Rights to Eyenga
Future 1st
for
Bosh
Calderon
I can't see both Calderon and Hedo coming back, it seems to make the deal too large and unrealistic, but if it was like that, replace Delonte with Jamison and insert Hedo.
Well, those are my 2 cents. I'm out.

That's weird, because I'm pretty sure the Raps didn't have a second round pick last year. It's also weird another team would blindly pick a guy who's not even considered a draft prospect with a 1st round pick, just based on a rumour of what some other team is thinking of doing.

Re: VIA The Score Ticker: ESPN Reports Cavs contact Raptors
I can understand why the Cavs would want to call the Raptors regarding a possible sign-and-trade. Of course they will be courting CB on July 1st and try to say to LeBron..."hey...we can get Chris Bosh, so come back to Cleveland". I doubt that anyone has been in contact with Chris yet...so this is merely 2 teams inquiring about the potential...which to me...is very very low. Chris Bosh is NOT going to Cleveland (with or without Lebron James). Cleveland wouldn't otherwise be interested in Bosh if they didn't think LeBron would consider returning because of it...which I think is a bit of disrespect towards Chris.
If I'm Colangelo...I want nothing to do with Delonte West, Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon, Boobie Gibson, Shaq, Antawn Jamison, Danny Green, Jawad Williams, Z, Leon Powe and Sebastian Telfair.
I'm lukewarm towards JJ Hickson and Anderson Varajao.
I would want Mo Williams coming back in any deal...but he alone is not enough. I would insist on Christian Eyenga...but once again...he alone or with even Mo Williams is not enough.
And if that's the case...I say no to most sign-and-trade proposals given the criteria above. I know Cleveland will try to dump Jamison on us...and the worst part for Cleveland is that Jamison plays the same position as Bosh...so imagine having roughly 20-30 Million a year at the same position. There's just no way BC takes on Jamison's albatross contract...even if it is just 2 years more...he's not someone you can rebuild with, and I'm sure he would have a problem going to a rebuilding team at his age. What do you do then??
So ya...Cleveland can call for the potential of a sign-and-trade...but I don't think this story has teeth to it...beyond simply inquiring.

Cavs have nothing. Bosh likes LA, NY, MIA, TOR. So no deal there. Looks like Bynum, Lee, Beasley or Raptors patch 'n fill.

I would do Bosh/Calderon or Hedo for Jamison/Williams/Hickson/1st. Calderon would be deadly next to LeBron and Calderon and Bosh already have chemistry. Williams and Jamison keep us respectable/can be easily moved on much shorter contracts, should we decide to completely rebuild.

I totally agree with this, it's very annoying having to read things twice just to understand what the poster was actually trying to say, rather than what it does say. I think guys are in too big a hurry when they're typing to pay attention to what they're actually saying. And the way people wildly misuse "There", "Their" and "They're" shows either a huge amount of laziness on their part, or a huge problem with the public school system !

For the people saying stuff like 'Cavs have nothing besides Lebron', this trade is probably more about what players you get to dump than what players you get in return. I think the Cavs may be the only team desperate enough to eat the Raptors two worst contracts in Turk in Jose to land Bosh. The Cavs also probably offer 2 future first round picks , JJ Hickson, 3 million cash, and whatever other players needed to match salaries.

Raptor need to first check to see if the can get any value for Turk and Jose in a different deal.
If they can't trade Bosh and Jose/Turk for a re-signed Shaq, JJ, West and 2 first round picks. Hell, if Turk really is a salary dump, then throw him in. The Cavs should be desperate to land Bosh.
Anyone wanting to remain decent after Bosh leaves is stupid. That is the best way to remain an avg team. Tank next year.
Going into next season, the Raptors should have a top 5 pick, another late 1st round pick and cap space.
The only problem I have with trading Bosh to the Cavs, is that you are making them the favorites to win, for the next 6-7 years. The Cavs don't have the threat to sign him outright. It will be hard for the Raptors to build a team to compete against them, especially since they have an owner who will continue to spend money.
If he goes to a team under the cap, at least that team can't go over the cap to sign players. They won't have the MLE. So it will take the knicks 2-3 year to fill out their roster. With the Heat, at least Wade is older.
Just because of that, if the Raptors can unload Jose in a different way, I would prefer to go that route. If the Raptors goal is to win in the next 6-8 years, I don't see how they can willingly be a part of a deal that sends Bosh to team that won 60+ games last year.
When Kobe was a FA, they said they were not going to do any sign and trade for a reason. You don't help teams win. Unless it is to a team that can sign him outright, I don't see any reason the Raptors would want to do a sign and trade.
It will be hard to unload Turk, but let him play it out for one more year. Hopefully his value is better so you can dump him on a team wanting to contend. Jose will be more difficult.
