Re: Congrats on the series
I would like to heartily congratulate the Lakers too.
When it counted they controlled the battle in the paint where titles are won, they played nasty defense on several occasions, especially last night, when the series could have slipped away, and when their opponent proved effective at denying their best player’s best game, that player found other ways to contribute and his team mates stepped up to fill in the gap in his game.
I have been watching the Celtics for 51 years now. The have won their many titles by putting the clamps on the their opponent’s best player and daring other players to beat them – this has been true from Chamberlain and Jerry West in the 60’s, to Jabbar in the early 70’s, to Magic Johnson in the early 80s (once), to Jordan in his younger years, and to Kobe in 2008.
They did exactly the same thing last night, only the Lakers, as a TEAM, proved too good, too committed, and too tough in the clutch.
You don’t have to buy into the Celtic self image of what basketball is to recognize that last night the Lakers beat the Celtics in exactly the manner the Celtics pride themselves in beating others.
Congratulations again. As always, the better team won

Posted this in the general board but thought it'd make better sense doing it here as well;
Congrats to you guys and your team. The better team pulled through and won it, well deserved.
Enjoy the parade guys..
Hopefully there isn't too long of a wait until a rematch.

Ouch!!!!
"Three NBA officials stood in the Boston Celtics’ tunnel, each clutching large pieces of luggage with heavy airline tags hanging from them. Inside the bags were special 2010 commemorative championship Celtics hats and T-shirts. As soon as time ran out on the Celtics’ 83-79 Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals on Thursday night, they took off running with the bags.
Seconds later, Kevin Garnett(notes) walked down the same tunnel in a daze with his Celtics teammates. A fan taunted Garnett, saying, ”Anything is possible,” mimicking what he exclaimed in 2008 when the Celtics beat the Lakers in the Finals."
Haha this guy just made my day..

Re: Ouch!!!!
I can't remember the show I saw it on, but they take the "championship" clothes of the losing team and give them to people in third world countries.

Re: 2009-2010 NBA CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the bet was placed on a different site where we play a nation simulation game together. miklo and i are currently in a war fighting side by side. our bet was that if i got more casualties i chose his avatar for realgm. if he got more casualties, i'd send him some make believe money in our game. i never gambled my avy or sig.

if anyone is into that type of stuff, pm me. got like 50-60 realgmers playing.

LOL
If my team had just won the title with a one-legged center by beating an historic rival I would be pretty damn good too.
Actually many Boston fans can relate to those Laker frustrations that are now buried given the way the Yankees have so often had their foot on the Red Sox's throat.
At least your team did not trade Bill Russell to the Celtics for cash the way the Red Sox sowed the seeds the Yankee dominance back in the day.
