well, i think that if powell and mbenga go, we do still need two bigs.

i mean with this you can put a bunch of the same old names into a hat and just pick at random, joe smith, kurt thomas, tim thomas songaila etc. picking our 4th and 5th bigs is really not too big a deal because the way our rotation is set, with odom, gasol and bynum it will be difficult for anyone to break through. so it has to be a character guy, id love someone in the turiaf mould who everyone loves and is active in pumping up the staples center.

im not too worried about injuries because we're making the playoffs next april we all know this and unless someone blows out a knee in december we can just rest players as much as we need to get them ready for the playoffs.

personally i would go with kurt thomas. unspectacular choice but hes all we need really from a 4th big, someone who can bang a bit and wont let you down. if we can get a young stud like sean williams who has tonnes of upside id rather have him. also if tim thomas wants to come i would take him.

for our MLE i would really be looking to get JJ Redick, i love this guy, hes a very good defender, he works hard, hes a big game player. I actually think he'd be too good and mess up our rotation, where you'd have artest marginalized in 4th quarters because kobe, redick and fisher spacing the floor would be too much for teams to handle i think. if we did get JJ it would actually put a lot more pressure on us and we'd be struggling to defend those point guards that give us problems from time to time. having said that i think Redick is too big a player to miss out on if he could be had for MLE money, i think hes a RFA but still id throw the full MLE at him because he has the perfect mentality for a contender. we'd have a dangerous 7 man rotation.

fisher/redick/brown
kobe/redick/vujacic
artest/kobe/walton
gasol/odom/walton
bynum/gasol/thomas

we could be pretty versatile but would have to rely on sasha and brown to do enough to stop those point guards that we sometimes fall foul too.

Bosh meshes better with Bynum, is younger, and is more versatile offensively. He may not be Gasol long but he's long enough to maintain the Lakers primary advantage.

Are you serious????? :curse:

Found this in the general board. I wonder how much credibility the account holder has.

Sorry its been 4evr. Only coming back to announce I have a solid source that the lakers r already talking bout trading bynum

No contact has been made w rapters it's all just backroom talk but I heard they don't want to risk it on him having another knee surgeory

Also they hate bynums agent to boot

I don't think it's a legit source. You don't shop a player with some future injury concerns this way.
You listening to offers. That's what all GMs do. If you actively "shopping" a player like Bynum you can seriously hurt his value(people would think he's not gonna "survive" another knee injury or something like that)

I'd like Bynum for Hinrich+Noah+(pick) as a Lakers fan. Would you?
Noah is a good rebounder+ great effort guy. Great role player if you ask me.
Hinrich is kinda overrated here but he has a chance to be a great triangle fit+ ability to defend PG + SG, i'he even seen him defending Paul Pierce effectively a couple of sequences(no kiddin).
I don't know if they'd be willing to throw a pick taking Andrews injury concerns into account.

Jerry West on the DP Show...

Paraphrasing...Lakers heavy favorites next year, Bynum and Kobe back to full strength after surgerys, and that Kobe was playing maybe the best of his career in this years playoffs.

The one thing that really stood out to me that Jerry West said was that "The Lakers need to get someone other than Kobe that can drive the ball to the basket."

If this team remains intact with two big post players playing alongside Kobe, the Lakers have to acquire an unselfish ball handler who will orchestrate the tri by getting the ball to Kobe and the bigs in the post.

... that dude is Shaun Livingston.

Livingston is tailor made to play with a bunch of back to the basket players like Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol.

Livingston is the type of floor general who' will never lose sight of his post option ... this is exactly what we need.

Livingston can be had for the minimum. A shooter/PG defender like Luther Head could also be had for the minimum as well.

Noah / Hinrich would just make the Lakers amazing.

Hinrich
Bryant
Artest
Gasol
Noah

That's just a beat in all ways and forms at both ends of the court, they all compliment each other perfectly have have specific traits that make them useful.

I'm also a big fan of Bosh for Bynum, like I've always said you take something that's 100% always over something that's an unsure thing i.e. bynum.

Bosh/Gasol/Bryant...

Come on now...

Some other players I'd like to sign

Reddick
Livingston
Korver
Resident band wagon vigilante.

Hinrich/Fisher
Kobe/Sasha/46th(Greivis Vasquez)
Artest/Walton
Gasol/Odom
Noah/17th(Whiteside/Orton)/Mbenga

Looks good to me.
Good balance of star power and effort/role players.

With Olympiakos looking to get rid of Josh Childress, what about him on the cheap?

While we're at it I'll throw in Brad MIller (if cheap) as replacement for Powell/DJ

I don't think the Bulls would trade the 17th pick along with Kirk and Noah. That would be a little too much that the Bulls would be giving up. I would be happy with just Kirk and Noah if a trade with the Bulls did go down. It replaces a big with a big and we get Kirk which is on quite a few poster's wish list for this offseason. It still leaves us with the MLE so the Lakers would be free to sign some fire power for the bench.

i think adding the 17th pick is probably a little too much as well. i wouldnt mind a bynum for kirk n noah at alll.. of course i would miss bynum because im actually a fan of his and he has shown he can produce (when hes actually on the floor). we look some offense from the center position but noahs defense, hustle, and rebounding i think make up for it.. i think both noah and kirk would be great fits for this team.

Chicago would need to throw in a third contract for the deal to work out anyways... Unless they gave us 1 or 2 million which could be used to pay fish.

thats not a bad idea.. i think bynum could be a big selling points for other free agents to go to chicago. he is getting surgury this summer so by next season he should be good to go. so bynum, rose, and deng arnt the worst players to be teammates with if im a free agent. seeing that we dont really need another body, i think the cash would be the best option for us if we can pull it off.

I think that Chicago would never take Bynum for their starting PF and SG, especially since they have next to no returning players as it is.
