Cousins,Wall, Favors, Turner. I'm on record by saying I want
This is for the record. I very strongly feel we should have cousins. But thats just me. I want for the record to see what each person's pick here. So people can actually have personal accountability of their opinions and who they like so in the future when we open this thread we can know who was leaning in which direction adn whether they were correct.
Please vote. I want the numbers to reflect who was in the minority and who in the majority. Also please post on this thread and simply write who you are record you would prefer. This is the thread where you make your stance known.
I am on record for saying I'd prefer Demarcus Cousins as a wizard

Re: Cousins,Wall, Favors, Turner. I'm on record by saying I want
Cousins has the most "Kwame Brown" potential in this whole draft class.
That alone makes him unworthy of a #1 overall pick. In any draft, ever again. The Wizards made that mistake in 2001 so other teams won't have to again.
Right place, right situation. He'll be a star. Wrong place, wrong situation a complete bust.
John Wall one way or another is either a Superstar or a Productive NBA player. I'll take the productive NBA player over potential bust, seeing as how we've been there and done that already.

Wow, a thread to talk about the draft! What a novel idea.

Why would you have Monroe, Favors and Johnson on this list when we have the #1 pick. There's no way you take any of those guys over the rest when you have the #1 pick.
I even think Cousins is out of the picture when youre holding the #1. Mostly for the reasons Krizko mentioned. Kwame Brown as a worst case scenario is a bit harsh, though.
Wall and Turner is a much better argument. The hype and the potential vs. the slightly older, slightly lower potential cieling, guy who had injuries in the past but was the best player in college ball.
I'm going with Wall like any other sane person would.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Someone voted for Wes? haha. There goes any shot this thread had at being in any way useful or relevant, if it even ever was. Lock and throw it in the garbage.

Re: Cousins,Wall, Favors, Turner. I'm on record by saying I want
The reason I have wes johnson, greg monroe and the others is because even though they would not be my personal options I must present them incase someone feels strongly about them and we have not been listening.
To the poster above who was being sarcastic about my starting a thread with this topic in particular, it's that sort of attitude that makes conversations here not constructive. If you don't like the topic please don't add anything to it and keep posting in the other thread. I do not want to derail the other threads hence I have started a separate one. I have tried to have the conversations about wall and cousins but people have their minds made. Instead of constantly pushing for it in their space I have opened a separate space so i don't clutter their conversations. I'd appreciate the same consideration.

This is not a new conversation. We've had this same discussion over and over again. Not sure why we needed a new thread for it, other than the fact you felt we needed it. Oh well...
I wonder who voted for Wes Johnson, hillarious!

actually the poll doesn't matter as much as what someone actually posts is their pick. I simply want to know each persons pick for number one would be if they were picking. I want these picks to all be in the same thread, free of clutter and to fish through endless information about what we should do with the number 30 draft pick and BOYD's

Well, the only way you'll get that data is from the poll, because members of this board have a hard time following "just tell me what your pick is" instructions and not posting on variations of other draft-related observations and assertions, board-related observations and assertions, and extraneous observations and assertions. As I've just done. Clutter! What a bunch of hoarders we are.
If you're including Johnson and Monroe, you should have just had an "Other" category instead. You never know, maybe someone wants to offer Zoubek as #1 for his rebounding.

Which player could help the most is a different question than who do you pick first IMO.
I think the consensus number 1 pick is NOT the player that can help this team the most.
I think Cousins inside would complement what the team already has with Arenas, Blatche, and hopefully a resigned Shaun Livingston.
Dat, I think the rookie will not be the leader because he's not a great distributor and not a great shooter. I think when he comes into the league his great athleticism will enable him to be a fairly good scorer. Wall will be far from great as a rookie. He is not even top 5 on players that would help this team the most IMO.
Turner is a tremendous rebounder and at SG with his passing skills he's a much better fit than Wall IMO.
Favors is 18 and a genetic freak defender. I'm not that high on him now, but he rates to me as a guy that will explode defensively. Al Horford would look fine at C, and Favors should be better than Horford in a couple years.
dangermouse, I wouldn't be totally surprised if Wesley Johnson and James Anderson don't have better rookie seasons depending on where they end up than Wall.
Wall is going to be a very good player, but I'm not sure about great nor do I think he's a great fit on the team as long as Gilbert is a Wizard.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Wall.
PS: See? Lack of focus, clutter, I clearly need some guidance.

I think the fact that almost nobody is saying John Wall is going to be terrible is reason alone for this franchise to go with him. We've had enough busts in our time that we simply cannot afford to pass up the first sure thing to be gifted to us.

Right now Wall looks about as close to a can’t miss prospect as we’ve evaluated in this our 7th NBA draft.

Not only is he the safest pick in the draft, he's the most athletic and arguably has the most upside.
Too many on here are overthinking this.

Cousins plays the game with a lot of passion- no way he's gonna be that bad. Kwame Brown downfall besides a lack of an offensive game was that he wasn't a good rebounder (also tended to miss defensive assignments). Cousins offensive game looks a lot more polished than Brown as well- he has bigger hands and won't fumble the ball at an insane rate.

Kwame Brown should not have ever played in the NBA. Nobody is ever going to be that bad again.
I said "Kwame Brown" potential in that taking him #1 could put more pressure on him than he's ready to deal with and he may fold under said pressure.

I think Cousins is the second best player in the draft and I'm not worried about him busting.
But in the NBA, you always, always, always go BPA, and Wall is the BPA. You think Cousins is the better fit? Sure. You think he plays a more important position? Fine. Wall is the BPA. Take him.

Re: Cousins,Wall, Favors, Turner. I'm on record by saying I want
Kwame Brown didn't "fold". Fold would imply that he would have been up to the task. Anyways, if Brown was a hothead like Cousins, he would've been A LOT better. Problem with Brown is that he had zero intensity from game to game.
I think Cousins will be a good player but I like John Wall more because of his ability to run a team and make the correct decisions on the fly and his potential to be a lock down defender on the defensive. The thing I question about Cousins is whether he could consistently produce in 30-40 mpg; there will be a lot of growing pains for Cousins to come into that role.
I think John Wall also makes his teammates better or at least maximize their abilities. Guys like Cousins, Patterson, Bledsoe, and Orton. Bottomline, I see John Wall who can be like CP3- only with a bit more physicality and ability to defend shooting guards. In the NBA, John Wall's speed and athleticism will only get better especially the way NBA games are officiated and the lack of zone defenses. And he certainly knows how to run a team and share the ball.
