Re: 'Short' time till the Draft
If Paul is available, you better believe KP is out there trying to grab him. KP has always been a Paul fan (supposedly he really wanted him in 05) and rightly so, he's one of the best in the NBA.
I am still skeptical though, I can see the financial side of it for New Orleans, but talent wise it seems absolutely insane to think he could possibly be available. I mean Darren Collison is a nice player, and he's a LOT cheaper, but he's not on Paul's level and never will be.
I also don't see how Paul fits with the rumor TBpup is talking about. Supposedly neither Oden or Roy were involved and I don't see how this deal goes down without Oden. The financial aspect of taking back Paul and Okafor is very difficult without involving that contract, and the value just seems ridiculous without Oden going.

Re: 'Short' time till the Draft
I know Crash isn't near Paul or Bosh, but how about this 3-way deal with two teams that are rumored to be very active in trade discussions:
Raptors trade #13, Hedo, Jack, Evans for Augustin, Diaw, Webster, Diop:
They dump Hedo and Jack, get 3 long-term contracts but relatively smaller and shorter, also guys they could really use: Webster who's atheltic but unlike DeRozan, Weems and Wright, he can also shoot; Diop as a shot-blocking, defensive backup center who's atheltic; and the versatile Diaw off the bench. Getting Augustin as their future PG behind Calderon (next in line to be traded?), for the 13th pick, is also a nice swap for them.
Bobcats trade Wallace, Diaw, Diop, Augustin for Aldridge, Turkoglu, Jack, Evans:
They downgrade at SF especially at the defensive end, but get their starting PF who has proved himself better than Tyrus Thomas (their RFA), ever since being swapped with Khrayapa for him. They dump Diop, get a starting PG in Jack who's tougher and more of a leader than Felton, and get Reggie Evans as a complementary backup for LMA.
Blazers trade Aldridge and Webster for Wallace and 13th pick:
We then trade the 13th pick, Bayless, Rudy, Dante and a future 1st, to the the Nets for Yi, Lee and the 3rd pick. Nets save 2.8M in additional capspace for this summer, while adding depth to their roster. This puts their payroll on 20.4M for Harris, Lopez, T-Will, Bayless, Rudy, Humphries, Dante and their 13th pick - 8 players. Add 4 minimum slots, and that's still ebough for two max contracts and some more.
With the 3th pick, we draft Derrick Favors. New rotation:
Miller/FA, 22th pick
Roy/Lee
Batum/Wallace
Favors/Yi
Camby/Oden

Re: 'Short' time till the Draft
While I may be the only one, I am not to wild for it. First if we traded for Wallace, he should instantly be the starter, I don't even think he would be all to excited to come off the bench, so problems could potentially arise. Plus, I feel if he were here he should start regardless if Batum is here or not. Then, I am just not to crazy about drafting a rookie PF who has not proven anything and could take awhile to grow. While I may be wrong on this issue, I think we are trying to start winning now and not trying to keep pushing it ahead a few more years. We don't have much time to wait. The trades aren't bad for Portland, just not something I am personally wild for.

Crash just got a contract extension from the Bobcats. The timing would be odd for a Wallace trade.

That is not a contradiction. Bosh is more of an offensive centerpiece than Roy is. Had the Raptors drafted Roy at #1, we could've witnessed that.

He signed there in 2007 on a 6 year contract. He is still on that contract.

I actually think that makes Bosh to Portland more likely. In Portland he could be the first option with Roy as his sidekick (Bosh is the centerpiece). A lot of the free agency talk was about Bosh being the ultimate sidekick for Lebron or Wade. It seems pretty evident that won't be happening simply because Bosh doesn't want to play in that role (Bosh is an addition).
Of course if Bosh does indeed want to come to Portland we will have to wait until well after the draft to find out.

the information I find is that he signed his extension on July 11, 2007
so the earliest he could have that contract extended is July 11, 2010...more then 3 weeks from now

I don't know if either Bosh or Roy are good enough to be a true #1 on a champion team. Roy would be the best #2 possible since when Roy is on he does not need many touches to get going. Bosh next to Oden would let Bosh play to all of his strengths. Bosh between Oden and Batum would provide any defensive cover he needs. Because Bosh and Aldridge are similar it would be so easy for him to step into Aldridge's role here. Perhaps that is attractive to him, being on a team that is already built for a player like him (compared to the knicks or heat that are not already designed around a player like him), but where he can come in an be #1.

Re: 'Short' time till the Draft
I just did a little math and for those that think it might be Paul, it's actually pretty easy to include Aldridge in a Paul trade come July. I don't think it makes sense for them to take back Aldridge because he already has a large long term contract so the savings aren't as significant, but talent wise he makes a Paul trade look better.
Aldridge, Pryzbilla, Miller, Batum for Paul, Okafor works, we could also add Webster/Rudy and take back Posey.
I'm also not sure I prefer to send out Aldridge, as a team featuring Oden/Camby/Okafor has very questionable health, fit, and offensive capabilities. A rotation of Aldridge/Camby/Okafor seems more balanced to me. For NO, Aldridge and West present a similar question of fit that West/Oden don't. Then again if I'm NO I probably like Aldridge's NBA resume a lot better than Oden's.

Do we have to wait that long? Can there be some of sort of agreement in principle, but doesn't take effect until after July 1st? I would hate to wait that long.

Re: 'Short' time till the Draft
If CP3 is the target, I seriously doubt LMA is headed out... They already have his clone in David West..
CP3's BYC expires on the first of July...
Oden, Batum, and Miller is almost the identical salary of CP3.
I love CP3... but he's a small PG, and If Oden's injuries do turn out to be freak accidents and he becomes the second coming of say... Bill Russel? ... We might regret a trade like this long term.
Oden (Young Bill Russel), Roy, LMA, Batum > CP3, Roy, LMA
or
Oden (Injury Prone is reality), Roy, LMA, Batum < CP3, Roy, LMA
It basically comes down to... What is Oden gonna be?

Wow, how things change. I was defending Walllace last summer right here on this board when people were calling him a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and the worst GM in basketball.

Will Bledsoe have a work-out for the Blazers? Is it scheduled?
Wesley Matthews just came by the scores table and said, "I ain't f***king losing no more."
