Did Kahn tell the 76ers to get Nocioni for us?

This would be an acceptable trade if

we could keep Al and K Love while still getting the 2nd pick

Did Kahn tell the 76ers to get Nocioni for us?

Post#1 » by RB10 » Mon Jun 21, 2010 4:05 am

Has anybody here thought about this:

David Kahn told the 76ers that if we can't get wes johnson with the 4 pick then we would like your SF. But obviously they value Iggy too highly so they decide to dump Dalembert for his replacement in Spencer Hawes (maybe) and also picking up the sharp-shooting SF Nocioni. So instead of them keeping Nocioni and clashing him with Iggy. They decide to trade down to the 4 spot with us to take Cousins or even Johnson or possibly Favors if the Nets randomly decide to take Cousins. For those of you who say that Nocioni isn't worth the contract, he is a better fit for our team than Brand or Dalembert would of been and we were offering to take on both of their contracts. And do you guys think that this trade could go down without giving up Al or K Love?

PHI gets:
4th pick and Gomes or another contract

MIN gets:
2nd pick and Nocioni

Starting lineup then is:

Flynn, Sessions
Turner, Brewer
Nocioni, 16 or another trade/FA
Jefferson, Love
Darko, Hollins

Sounds rather acceptble especially for the chances that it could actually happen.

Please comment on what you voted on and your opinions.

Really? Because all I remember hearing Kahn say is that he didn't want anything to do with Brand's contract....

I dont think so. This trade has been in the works since the trade deadline. Philli is NOT trading Turner. Collins told Stefanski that he thought Nocioni would be useful. I don't see it.

Maybe reading a lot into a simple deal. That trade was made to get Philly below the lux tax.

Yeah, Dale has been rumored to be going to the Kings for months now. Collins just finally pulled the trigger on it when he became the coach.

The Kings trade saved the Sixers 3.1 million in the short term, but they are on the hook for 6.75 million of a nocioni crap sandwich for 2011.

It certainly will make a lot more sense on their end if they made that deal knowing they could later move nocioni to the wolves for more cap savings. Gomes+Hollins for Nocioni just barely works matching-wise, and makes quite a bit of sense on their end as it saves them 4.2 million dollars in 2010 and 3.5 in 2011. Then they also get the salary savings from 4 to 2.

I don't think Kahn told them to do anything, but perhaps they ran this scenario by us before pulling the trigger on the dalembert deal.

Gomes+Hollins+4+16
for
Nocioni+2

is something I wouldn't be at all surprised to see on draft day.
IF they would be willing to trade down (would be kind of hard to go against what their fanbase wants too). If Kahn is really sold on Turner as a star, this is something I'd do in a heartbeat.

I think it's connecting dots that aren't there. That deal was rumoured since before the deadline but I don't think either team wanted to shake their roster up mid way through the season.

I agree with Esohny. you're reading a bit too much into this.

I'd love to see that happen though.

I don't expect this to happen but, Kahn has something up his sleeve
