I think Camby would be so pissed if he was traded again

We might not have had to move up if we had won the draw and finished at 19 instead
of 22...

I think the teams we will target are Minnesota or Chicago (Rudy). We could probably
get to 8 if we offered the Clips Batum but I hope the team does not do something
stupid like deal Rudy to Boston for a swap of first round picks just so they can get
ahead of SA to get another big.

If we could move up to get into position to select Wesley Johnson, I'd move Batum. When all is said and done, I expect Johnson to end up being the best player in this draft and likely the ROY next year too (if he's in the right situation to get PT).

I think we all know chances of something BIG happening is slim but lets live in the moment and dream and dream big ... this will more then likely be KP's last move so let's take a leap of faith in his talents and hope for the best.

GO Blazers and GO KP .. one last Pritchslap .. one for the road .....

Atlanta trades:

Josh Smith $11,700,000

Atlanta receives:

LaMarcus Aldridge $10,744,000

I think Aldridge would be a better fit next to Horford than Smith.

Portland trades:

LaMarcus Aldridge - incoming salary value of $5,844,000
Joel Przybilla $ 7,405,000
Rudy Fernandez $ 1,246,680
$3 million
2011 1st top 3 protected
Rights to Joel Freeland

we can take back up to $18,221,009 in incoming salary

Portland receives:

Chris Bosh $17,149,000

We get an upgrade at PF in that he's much better at dribbling and drawing fouls than Aldridge.

Toronto trades:

Chris Bosh $17,149,000

Toronto can take back $21,536,250 in salaries

Toronto receives:

Josh Smith $11,700,000
Joel Przybilla $ 7,405,000
Rudy Fernandez $ 1,246,680
$3 million
2011 1st top 3 protected from Portland
Rights to Joel Freeland

incoming salaries of $20,351,980

Toronto gets a marketable player in Smith who fits better there than Aldridge. If Przybilla's injured all season he only costs them $1.5 million. If healthy he gives them a long needed inside presence on defense.

To me Bosh or Paul make the most sense as far as all the possibilities and pieces of the puzzle discussed on this thread... As Village Idiot posted, this S & T scenario seems to fit the best.

Its been mentioned in in recent months that Atlanta may tweak n refine some pieces, and considering Josh Smiths type of play, he seems the most likely player they would be willing to get rid of.

Paul for obvious reasons and the fact KP was fighting to draft Paul over Webster. With Bosh, he would definitely give us an big time scoring presents in the paint n very well could work well with Oden cleaning up the rebounds and his basket shaking dunks.

As far as Trading with Philadelphia, it doesn't make any sense financially with Brand and Iggy. Sure we have PA who's willing to do what ever it takes, but with there contracts plus our extensions with Roy Camby and possibly Oden... dont think adding those pieces really gets us past the 2nd round, maybe WCF. One could say we would have tons of talent in every position but there wont be enough shots to go around.

Village Idiot...I see you made the adjustment for Lamarcus being a BYC1 player after July 1. Thank you! A number of people have just thrown his name out there as a trade piece without consideration of the cap. Until July 1, he has a 'Poison Pill' contract which makes him almost untradeable. After July 1, you can't trade him $$ for $$ because of his status. Good job.

That said, Joel can not be thrown into a trade yet either. While it is a formality, he has a player option and has to excersice that before he is a tradeable piece. No one doubts he will but he can't be included before that declaration. The rumor was that this could potentially be done before the draft but I don't see how unless it is just an 'agreed to in principal' trade.

It's not for lack of effort, but we may have to wait longer than earlier indicated to see if it can be pulled off.

Thanks Pup for the kind words.

I ran the numbers for this year through my spreadsheet and even accounting for Aldridges PPP status the exact same deal could happen this salary year if both Bosh and Przybilla don't excercise their options and remain under contract. Joel would also have to forgo his trade kicker money.

According to the guys on the CBA board Bosh can even be extended and traded.

Another big issue that I don't think anyone has mentioned here is that Paul Allen's ample liquidity enables him to offer a player the maximum 20% signing bonus. That would mean that Bosh would get $20 million up-front. Given the time-value of money that could be a very persuasive factor in tipping the scales in our favor.

You mentioned trading up to the top 10, and word has it the Clippers (8th) are trying to trade down. Question is, who's available at 8 that Portland could be targeting?

Because we clearly need a SF? In addition to the assets we give up to trade up, we take away time from Batum? No thanks

Get rid of Webster. McMillan want a shooter to spread the floor. With Babbitt you've got one. I m convicted that Batum can play backup 4 when playing smallball or play the 2 when going big. If we draft Babbitt i guarantee that Nic get playing time!

I would bet that if we are targeting a top 10 pick, that we are doing it to package it in a trade for a proven player. Most likely the one that TB is talking about. I would assume that the team we are talking with is saying that they want a high draft pick, along with expirings, and prospects. Just my guess though

RipCity4Life....great attitude. Big moves really don't happen that often and little becomes of most discussions. I've been given enough indications to believe this one is being diligently worked on. However, for reasons I gave before and Wizenheimer also pointed out, I personally believe this will NOT happen before the draft despite what I've been told. Call it a hunch and I could be dead wrong.

We very well might have to wait until after the July 1 deadline although the principles of the deal may come out on draft night.

Stop saying Bosh!

if the trade can be announced on draft night but can't be completed until July 1st than it cannot be for a free agent.

I'm willing to bet on Steve Nash being the ultimate target on the super cheap.

Something like Przybilla, Miller, Rudy, Bayless, #1 going out with Nash, Barbosa, Hill coming in.

Maybe looking at a third team to swing Miller or Bayless to in order to move up in the draft or add another pick

Nash runs the pick and roll and pick and pop better than any pg in the NBA which would be deadly with oden or aldridge.
He spreads the floor better than any pg in the NBA as the best shooter.
He runs a offense and creates more easy buckets than any pg in the NBA.

That's a deadly starting 5 without effecting our depth much.

first of all, if KP's big move was to replace a 34 year old PG with a 36 year old one, he SHOULD be fired

second, just who would KP be talking to in the Phoenix front office?...the GM and the assistant GM have both resigned in the last week
