I had to read the article twice to make sure it was really Domenech that read the note. This whole thing just gets stranger and stranger. I LOVED watching the trainer toss his pass-necklace-thingy on the field and storm off to tell the press he quit and just leaving then and there. I've had a few jobs where I would've liked to do that....

What a shameful display from the Ivory Coast today. The plan was clearly to get Brazil's best players off the field either by injuring them or getting them red carded, and it worked twice.

Yeah, really disappointed, they were one of my favorite teams going into the tournament. It was really disgraceful.

Portugal just thrashed North Korea 7-0.

They've had some problems during the first 30 minutes of the game, but they broke the spirit of those North Koreans with that first goal by Raul Mereiles.

Poor North Korea, their players could get "disappeared" for that performance. Did anyone else see that they have to train in a public gym because they can't afford their own facilities? Also, notice that they can't afford training gear either and are working out in what appears to be their game uniforms.

the situation in north korea is just so sad. i hope all those players find a way to pull a "victory" style disappearing act (the good kind), where they slip into the crowd after their last game, never to return to north korea again, like the way all the cuban baseball players do when they play in the usa.

Unfortunately I don't think Cuba and N. Korea are comparable in this respect. The people in Cuba are well aware of the differences in quality of life between Cuba and the US. I don't know how much is known about other countries in North Korea. Who knows if they even want to escape? What could happen to their families if they did? If FIFA had any honor whatsoever they wouldn't let any country compete that doesn't let it's citizens come and go from the country as they please.

Btw, I find it hilarious that like clockwork, Cuba loses at least 10-15% of whatever team they send to compete internationally in Baseball or Soccer. That can't be good for propaganda....

Luckily some of North Koreans play abroad so maybe it won't that bad.

I missed that game on Tv, what a shame. And Ronaldo hapilly sat on bench with virtual 19 points for me, what was I thinking. Did anyone had Portugalese captain today?

I actually put 2 Portuguese on my roster at the beginning specifically because I thought they would kill North Korea. I chose Ferrera(sp?) and Bruno Alves. Because of some lineup issues I could only put one in the lineup so I went with Ferrera thinking a wing-back would get the shut out bonus and still have a chance to get goals and assists. Ferrera of course, did not play.... :banghead:

Spain won easily but didn't look all that impressive against Honduras.

Torres looks like he's got ways to go to get back in real playing shape and they don't seem to be able to really create enough chances on goal even with all that posession of the ball.

Also, Villa might get suspended after throwing that hand into the Honduras players face.
The ref did not see it, but he could get suspended thanks to it.

Anyways, he got me 26 points and it should've been even more, but he had to miss that penalty....

I totally ruined my fantasy team. I thought, when you selected those big rosters, that you'd have to play them all for some reason. So I thought the essence of the game was in picking out cheap players that you thought would put up points, rather than getting a bunch of dream teamers. I guess I should have gotten a lot more 8-10 point guys. Oh well.

Don't worry there will be a place for total overhaul as there will be unlimited free transfer between group stages and play off (as some players won't play anymore). And we all get 5 more points to spend.

I thought a bnit of the same till I realized there is plenty of room for better players just not ebnough to have them all. Of course some cheaper ones are actually better/luckier than mroe expensive ones. Funny thing is how those with price of 1 are getting +0.1 in price for having lto of takers. Simply end of bench can be cheap. I actually could do better with Paston (GK - NZL) than with goalkeepers which started for me and he costs 2 (2.1 now I think).

Like I said I didn't play Ronaldo as I already had 3 forwards with reasonable points and he scored whooping 3 points last time, so... If I imagine I would get his 19 points instead of Van Persie's 6 and moreover if I doubled him with capitancy instead of Maicon (another 19 instead of another 6), 26 points total, oh well. And I even thought Koreans would be capable of kind of stopping them with their all defense approach, lol.

Imagine if someone (accidentally) made Tiago a capatain...

From now on I will run rigid lineups and those key players in last days of rounds will play no matter what.

Tupik, any news about french soap opera who with whom, why, who is jealous, anything? I've read today that some players will refuse to play against South Africa, what's next?

Looks liek Blanc could just start with a completely new team from the scratch.

Aside from Domenech saying he sided with the Federation and was for Anelka's expulsion, nothing new today.

Well, we're getting our ass kicked by South Africa right now, but it's not that much of a surprise.

To me it was a surprise that Ribéry brought some points after all today (having an assist and 7 points). But still my worst selection impact/price-wise in this fantasy game.

Yeah, same for me, but I still think he'll get out of my lineup as the round goes on.

A catastrophic ending to a catastrophic tournament. It's been a total disgrace from beginning to end.

Bornstein starting?!?!?

As If I wasn't going to be nervous enough watching this game, I'm now going to pee myself every single time the ball goes out right for Algeria.....

I hope he has a great game and this post makes me look stupid in a few hours....
