I think we should get a more defensive oriented player as our backup SF, especially if we keep Redick. If this deal happened, I would personally love to get someone like Quincy Pondexter with our draft pick, use part of the MLE on CJ Watson and get a solid veteran C to backup Dwight with the vet. min or the rest of the MLE, maybe someone like Ben Wallace to help out with rebounding or maybe Tony Battie who's on good terms with players on our team.

Jameer/Watson
Vince/Redick as our 6th man
Deng/Pondexter
Shard/Anderson/Bass as trade bait
Dwight/Wallace

On paper, this team looks great.

Those are pretty good numbers but does trading Pietrus and Gortat for Deng really put us over the top and make us better than a potential LeBron/Amare or Wade/Bosh team? I don't think so.

Also, if we trade Pietrus and Gortat for Deng, we can say goodbye to trying to do a sign and trade for Bosh, Amare or Boozer. Gortat and Pietrus are arguably our two biggest trade pieces, and if we give them away for Deng, we have zero chance of getting the aforementioned PF's.

I honestly think we could get more for Gortat let alone a Gortat/Pietrus package.

We'll see I guess, but I'm kind of hoping we don't do this trade.

i honestly can't say that i agree with this logic at all.

^^^ don't feed the troll nolimit. I just wonder how come he's here on every trade scenario we have.

Anyway, I admit we will upgrade our SF poisition, but weren't we hoping for a traditional PF this time? No more stretch 4 and such?

Bulls fan here, the thing about Deng's salary is that 25-30% is deferred. That deferred money goes into a intrest bearing account which Deng gets paid over a 20 yr period. So in theory if you put away that 25% salary, who is making money off the interest??

^^ He's just upset his team sucks and everything goes wrong...

"Oh we drafted Iggy we have our go to guy!" - Iggy on the Trade Block
"Oh we drafted Young, we have Iggys sidekick!" - Gets dunked on by Wade and is never seen again.
"Oh we signed Brand! We have an offensive threat!" - Brand turns into Grant Hill circa 2000
"Oh we MADE the PLAYOFFS!" - Lose to O-TOWN in 1st round
"Oh we Resigned IVERSON!" - Iverson goes m.i.a never to be seen

Go trash your own bored, im sure you have oh soo much to talk about...

Interesting trade, but I do see this as mainly speculation. Like others have said, I don't see Deng being an ideal fit for us. He's a very nice player, and is young, which is a plus, but we need to add some meat to the frontline, and that's not Deng. This keeps Lewis at the four, which I don't want either. We need another guy who can help Dwight down low. It'd be a hard trade to pass up, but I'd hate to make this trade only to learn we had a chance at a Boozer or Amare later on. I definitely don't see this trade putting us over the top. It would probably make us better, but I'm not sure if it's good enough to win a title.

Question: Do the Rudy Gay to Orlando supporters favor this trade for Deng too?

i'd rather have rudy gay than deng, but i'm with kookie's layout of our team. i like pondexter as a late first rounder as well.

i sure as hell don't approve of us working out andy rautins and darington hobson

Is there any possible why we could still get Gay if we gave up Gortat and Pietrus for Deng?

I mean, like I said, those are arguably our two biggest trade assets; so could we get Gay for some sort of package of Bass/Anderson/1st round pick/TPE?

I'm wondering if some sort of combo of those aforementioned players would get it done for Gay?

I just put krazysixersD on Ignore, board looks much better now. His repetitive whining adds nothing to the discussions.

I don't like this trade. Like everybody said

Deng is injury prone, owed all-star money and isn't one, he doesn't really fit our offense, he's not a shooter but he doesn't even really get to the line, hoop. His game is mostly mid-range jump-shots.

Plus I think Pietrus is underrated, he didn't have a great series vs Boston. (Boston really made it a point to get out to him) But excluding that series, he really stepped it up in the playoffs both years. And he's my fav player. So no.

Gay will only leave if some other team gives him an ungodly amount. It's next to impossible for Gay to come here. Memphis will keep him.

Deng doesn't have a killer instinct. Deng is a guy that gets hurt often and when it comes time for clutch-time, Deng will become invisible and miss key shots.

Crap.

Well then I guess it's on to Iguodala. He's on the trading block and I'd much rather have him then Deng and I think he'd come much cheaper than Deng.

EXACTLY why I don't want to give up Gortat AND Pietrus for him.
