DX: Houston and Detroit working hard to get #4
DraftExpress
NBA source says both Detroit & Houston are making a major push to trade w/Minnesota to get Cousins with the 4th pick. "His stock is rising."
Ariza?
#7 plus a future first?
I don't see it with either team. Would have to be a three way deal, no?

I'd think a 3 way is the best way.
Neither team has anything we'd want enough to drop to 7, or holy cow 14!

Re: DX: Houston and Detroit working hard to get #4
I really don't see anything out there that they could offer straight up for #4. Even if Houston threw in a lot of the picks and pick swaps with the Knicks. A 3 team would be the only way, but what would DET/HOU have that would entice another team to give MN enough value?

Re: DX: Houston and Detroit working hard to get #4
I just don't see Houston or Detroit as good trade partners. Detroit really doesn't have much of value outside of the 7th pick and Prince's expiring deal and Houston has some young pieces but Hill doesn't fill a need for the Wolves and the 14th pick is way to far to move down imo. They do have NY's pick in 2 years but I don't want to risk LeBron going to NY and that pick being a later 1st rounder.

I don't see any trades here. The Wolves have yet to work out anyone in the 6 to 10 range in the draft so I don't see anything happening with Detroit. Houston just doesn't have the right parts.

Houston and Detroit don't really have anything on their roster that would entice me to trade away the 4th pick.

Re: DX: Houston and Detroit working hard to get #4
I don't see it for either team.
The Rockets have Yao, Ariza, Martin, and Brooks as their best trade chips.
Yao - Injured, expensive, and poor fit. I doubt that the Rockets would offer him up, either, because he's such a cash cow do to the Chinese connection.
Ariza - We already have Brewer and could draft Johnsons and/or George.
Martin - Kahn has already stated that he doesn't like his contract.
Brooks - We have Flynn, Sessions, and hopefully Rubio. We don't need another young PG.
Detroit pretty much only has Prince and their pick.
It's kind of been established that Prince + 7 = Jefferson (though for some reason Detroit fans have backed away from this trade in the last couple weeks). It's also been fairly well established that Jefferson < 4. So, Prince + 7 < 4.

Maybe something with NJ getting 7 + capspace, MN getting 3/Daye, Pistons getting 4?
MN gets Favors
Pistons get Cousins
NJ gets Udoh + space to offer 2 max contracts?

Ronzone's interview today makes me think that they don't need to have worked someone out to draft them. He suggests that the workouts are really more for the coaches, while the scouts know what guys can and can't do based on their work throughout the year.

I like this possibility, of course NJ needs to send someone out in order to add capspace, which I assume is what you are proposing. Unless you just mean the difference between the 7 and 3 rookie salary slots?

Det is not getting up to 4 for freaking Daye. It would have to be an unprotected 2011 1st, and Wes Johnson would have to be on the other end, maybe Paul George.

Ronzone is a former Piston scout, he might be higher on some of Pistons propsects that he helped to pick out than MN fanbase.
And the deal I proposed was just a framework. I know MN would have to give up YI/Hump to create capspace.
Also, the chance of Detroit trading a 2011 unprotected first is slim to none.

True about Daye likely not being enough to move from #7 to #4, also seems unlikely that the Wolves could move get #3 and and Daye for the #4 and taking on Yi or Humphries. I'd consider #3/Daye/Yi for #4 to be a pretty good deal.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Workouts are not a bad thing - just over-rated ... commonly, it's a chance for coaches to see how the players interact with others, how they respond to simple instruction, and even a chance for some othese players to see the city.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Would:
Chase Budinger + Jordan Hill + #14 + NY 2012 pick
for
#4 + rights to Pekovic
be worth considering?
