Brewer Being Shopped?

Post#1 » by Klomp » Tue Jun 22, 2010 1:41 pm

Minnesota Is Crazy: The Minnesota Timberwolves have to officially be classified as crazy.

The Wolves have offered virtually every team in the league some kind of trade proposal, so at this point there could be as many as 29 trade combinations that drop.

The Wolves have offered almost everyone on their roster at some point this month and they have tried almost every angle imaginable to obtain another top 10 pick in this year's draft.

Sources close to the Clippers say that Minnesota offered the #16 pick and Corey Brewer to the Clippers in exchange for the #8 pick, they have offered multiple player and pick packages to the Indiana Pacers for the #10, and last night league sources said the Timberwolves had at least agreed to the idea of swapping the #16 and Corey Brewer with the Toronto Raptors for the #13 and Hedo Turkoglu - a deal that couldn't drop until July 1st because of cap reasons.

Raptors' sources said last night it wasn't happening as did Wolves sources, but it should illustrate how insane the process is becoming.

Hedo Turkoglu? Really?

The one thing that is crystal clear is that Minnesota is chumming up the trade waters trying to make things happen and that almost anything you hear connected to Minnesota could be just one of many attempts by the team to drum up something splashy.

There are some that believe Philadelphia would trade the #2 overall pick, if they got back two top ten level picks, hence why Minnesota is feverishly trying to make a move.

Word is the #16 and Corey Brewer have been shopped to a half-dozen teams, so just because Minnesota is linked to your team, doesn't mean a deal is anywhere close to happening, it just means your team happened to be one of the teams that took the phone call.

I have to admit, after so many years of the "we're counting on our existing players to get better and our late lotto pick to really be someone special" approach, I actually smiled when reading the first line of the story. I care how it turns out in the end, but right now atleast the ride is entertaining.

Agree, very entertaining. That said I think it makes total sense that we've talked to everyone and about all our players. The draft is very fluid and Ronzone said we hadn't officially decided yet, so hopefully this means we're ready regardless of what happens and don't get caught unaware. I think it's all contingency plans to say if we fill this hole or add to a position where we're already deep (PF) we're going to fill the other areas of need with some combination.

With this many picks, cap space, and other moveable parts we should have every angle covered.

It's a 15 win team. They should be offering just about everybody as trade assets. But there's no way the Hedo trade as stated was real.

Not surprising, Kahn has said that basically everyone is available.

The Hedo trade is a joke though.

If we do #16 + Brewer for #13 + Hedo, I think I may call my sales rep and ask for a refund on my season tickets.

I didnt know Wojnarowski also wrote for poopshurled?

I love Brewer but I might due the 16 + Brewer for 8 if we need to get further under the cap for a good reason.

^yeah that'd be a nice trade for us. I love Brewer, he's pry my favorite current wolf(besides Rubio), but I'd have to do that deal.

I'm desperate for rumors, but before I read them, I check to see if they are written by Sam Smith, Peter Vescey, poopsworld or bleacher report, I pass on by.

Kahn believes the team needs to get longer and more athletic, and be able to run. It seems like Corey Brewer would be one of the last ones he'd want to trade.

I will say this: I think its not unlikely that LAC will trade down from #8.

The Turkoglu stuff is just ridiculous.

Knowing Brewer’s value has probably never been higher, it would still be extremely difficult to watch easily our most improved player flourish (after tearing up his knee!!!!) on an opposing team. He seems exactly the type of athletic, long, hustle-type, and improving skills guy that the Wolves are in desperate need of.

Although I once was one of his largest critics, let’s not undervalue this key young asset to acquire another unknown zero experience draft pick. Plus throw in the #16 pick! :noway:

I think the Hedo trade has legs as part of a 3 way trade w/ Brand going to Toronto. Us taking Brand is no deal, but we might make do w/ Hedo if we can get Turner

Hedo?? really??? this article gotta be written by someone who's looking for attention. Hedo's contract gotta be one of the worst three contracts in the entire league.

Hedo would be a good fit here most likely, but I don't see Kahn wanting that deal..

^ I think Hedo would too.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Hedo/#13/Future 1st for Hollins/#45 trade.

he'd be a decent fit on the court theoretically but considering his age, motivation and contract he's one of the least intriguing players I'd want on our roster!

Not even Mchale would get Hedo. He'll just come here and complain after one year that he doesn't like it.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
