well, it looks like Favors or Cousins

Post#1 » by king125 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 5:16 pm

according to the guy at draft express, Wes Johnson is going to NJ at 3.

Who will Minnesota take? A young PF in need of some time to develop, who is also "out of shape" according to the Minnesota staff?

or an overweight red flag C who is ready to contribute immediately?

Predictions?

If that's true, I'm hoping Minnesota does take Cousins, because having Favors drop to 5 would be a gift.

^agreed. Favors is a project but honestly going into this season a Dalembert/Landry/Thompson/Favors front line is great. If we got Cousins he would be expected to contribute immediately where Favors would have less pressure. 3 years from now Favors is better.

Dalembert/Thompson
Landry/Favors/Brockman
Greene or Casspi
Evans/Garcia/Udoka
Udrih/#33

35 wins maybe but still moving in the right direction.

Sorry, if this happens MN is taking Favors. While it was said Favors needs to get in better condition, Kahn also said in a local interview that he believes Favors has a chance to be the best player out of this draft in 5 years.

That said, Cousins and Tyreke is pretty sick.

I was about to say! It doesnt make us cry if you take Favors. Who ever is paired with Tyreke will be a good duo

I'd probably prefer Cousins, but I'll take Favors for sure.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Oh, dont be sorry, i'd rather have Cousins to be honest. A low post 7 foot offensive threat means more to me than what an athletic Favors will bring. Although i admittedly haven't seen Favors play as much.

Not that Sam is necessarily in Sacramento's long term plans, but who would be a better fit next to Sam, Cousins or Favors?

My guess would be Cousins since he's so much more skilled offensively than Favors is at this point.

It's been looking to me for a while that Cousins will go to Sac. I'm glad the Mocks are finally seeing that Monroe to us is a stretch.

As far as who's a better fit next to Dalembert...that's the wrong question. The right question is where will Dalembert, if at all, fit in? $12m expirings with two youngs in Reke and (assuming) Cousins coming in. It's clear where we will need improvement and how we will build. It's not going to be with Sam Dally in mind.

Hey guys, I will be popping in and out here from time to time since Sammy came over (I'm still a Sixers fan) but have any of you heard anything about Sam's intro or press conference at all?

Who's our current big man coach? I think we realllly need to get a strong big men's coach here next year. Someone like Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, etc. We need someone that Cousins will look up to and respect. While I believe that a lot of concern regarding Cousin's attitude is overblown and media hype, there is still likely some reality and truth behind it.

Last I heard it was Shareef-Abdur-Rahim ( he is one of our assistant coaches) He was a pretty dominant big man, obviously didn't acquire the fame as a hakeem/ewing/robinson - but he was a very good player imo. And I think it would be close to impossible to steal robinson away from the spurs.... ewing away from his son or the knicks and hakeem not sure where he is but with storied careers like that, they usually stick close by their respective teams

But yea I do agree, having a legend would help us out - even though I HATE THE GUY - if in fact he is a good fit for our broadcast team (since he is going to be only part time this season) maybe we could persuade him to double as a big man coach if he has the free time to do so...? just a thought... wouldn't hurt if ya ask me... having a coaches like Shareef + walton...

Bill Walton would be an AWESOME influence on Cousins, but I wish we could bring in somebody like Vlade. If there's any person on this Earth meant to be a mentor to others it's Vlade Divac. Shareef will do fine, but if we want Cousins (or Favors) to be one of the top big men in the league, we'll need more.

I think it's more about looking at their options. If you aren't sold on Monroe OR Cousins as studs (or even if you are) it's dumb not to listen to offers from other teams.

is anyone concerned that Cousins does not want to be here? With his attitude issues, could that be an issue?

edit**

I am not saying he doesn't want to be here, but DX said he prefers the pistons.

Well, if he didn't want to be here he wouldn't have come to the workout (like he did w/ Minne & GSW).
