I think in this situation Otis does need to lie if we are in contact with them. To admit to that would be to say we don't believe in Jameer. It may be true, but you can't have the team leader thinking he is going to be dealt.

Huh? Why not? Jameer is not above anyone else because he is a team leader. Team leaders come and go. In fact, he needs a little fire lit up underneath his ass. ...actually, that might be hazardous to the little farter.

The VC trade came out of nowhere last season so I don't believe a word Otis says.

You never want one of your core players thinking they are on their way out...it is horrible for chemistry.

Believing Otis here would be like believing Lebron James: "Akron is my Home, it is my life."

It may be horrible for chemistry between the player/his agent and team management, but it's not terrible for chemistry between the players. I hope you're not trying to convey that message.

So a player that hears he is on the way out won't perform differently on the floor? One player playing off his game does mess up team chemistry on the floor.

UPDATE!!!!!

ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic's preliminary inquiry into the availability of point guard Chris Paul involved a discussion that included a trade of both starting guards Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson to New Orleans.

The Magic, as part of the early discussion, would receive both Paul and small forward James Posey, according to a second NBA source that confirmed the original FanHouse story by Sam Amick involving the two teams.

Although Paul clearly is the best player in the talks, the Hornets are interested in reducing future salary obligations. The team is in the midst of an ownership sale/transfer that has been stalled by the debt obligations that the new owner would incur.

Exactly. It may not happen, but I am damn glad that Otis is attempting to get it done.

George Shinn ftw. If this trade goes down, we should make a new term: "fts" (for the Shinn).
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

I can't remember that happening. Not in professional sports. I won't say it's never happened, but the scenario would be rare. Why would he do it based off rumors? If it was a fact he was leaving, then maybe... but usually players are pulled off the floor by then.

But now you're generalizing this. We're talking about a single player. Jameer Nelson... The guy is not unfamiliar with trade rumors linked to him. It's never affected him in the past.

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports ... -paul.html

Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith said this afternoon that the Magic have not inquired about Chris Paul’s availability in a potential trade with the New Orleans Hornets.

Early Tuesday, the website FanHouse, citing an unnamed league source, reported that the Magic were among a group of teams that had asked about Paul.

Asked minutes ago by the Orlando Sentinel whether the Magic made such an inquiry, Smith answered flatly, “Nope.”

“It’s the first I’ve heard of it,” Smith said.

Then, Smith corrected himself. He said he had read an e-mail message a little while earlier from another reporter who had asked if the story was accurate.

Holy moly. Maybe I underrated the validity of this. I still don't think it's happening, but it definitely seems more legitimate than I thought.

WOW!

The O-Sen is reporting on this too. So this rumor must be legit!

This would be friggin awesome! I would literally cream my pants if we got the best f*ucking PG in the NBA!

I mean, I love Meer Meer to death, but we're talking about CHRIS F*UCKING PAUL here.

CP3 would do WONDERS for Dwight. He would instantly make Dwight better than he already is.

PLEASE! LETS GET CHRIS PAUL! PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSEEEEE!

Return to Orlando Magic
