Beasley has the same negatives as Amare. Why subject ourselves to similar frustrations. All this 'change of scenery' talk will not change his poor defense, poor rebounding, and lackadaisical attitude. He is an undersized PF with good offensive skills. Antwain Jamison anyone ?

Let me tell you some positives and negatives about Beasley.
On his size, he is a bit small for a PF, when he was drafted he was 6 7 without shoes, but he was 19 years old, some reports say he grew an extra inch within the previous year. He has good wingspan, good athletic ability, his numbers in draft were pretty solid across the board.
The problem with Beasley is probably a lil bit more mental.
When he has played with confidence, most people thought he was going to have a break out year.
Next to Wade, which he tends to command almost the whole playbook, Beasley was having a real good stretch, but somewhere in the season.
Maybe the Barkley comments, something got into his head.
Miami is pretty tough on its players, he is competing with Haslem, which is a wily vet, so every small mistake was a bit magnified. Even when he played well, the coach took the safe choice of playing Haslem.

If Beasley has a good support system, he could thrive, he is a bit sensitive, he is also loves to settle for his shot, but when he is playing well, he basically has a repertoire of moves.
Nash could get a lot of this kid. I remember seeing Dragic look a bit defeated in his rookie year, second he looked much more confident.

Miami right now is playing in a time sensitive time table, if we didn't have Wade, we would keep Beasley and wait to see if puts it all together, he has some really good streaks , but the fact is, Riley is going to probably go all out trying to win now mode.
He might move Beasley to create a super team.
But some have said, Amare might be signed outright, and Beasley might be used to get another piece.
My guess is Rudy Gay in a trade with Memphis in a sign and trade, but if we do sign and trade Beasley to you guys, am sure Riley would want you guys to take Cook and James Jones.
Or at least James Jones.
Though my guess Riley is going to sign Amare outright, and try to package Beasley separately.

Beasley in Phoenix is a dream come true. He will get a lot better! If we get him for Amare whos gonna leave anyways, its an early xmas present. To anyone who would rather have James Jones or Tyrus Thomas, you obviously dont watch basketball. Although TT would improve in our system, hes lightyears away from the talent of Beas. Maggette would do great for us if we got a cheap deal for him, he can really light it up in an uptempo offense.

Beasley doesn't deserve to be in this team

he made what, 4-5million dollars last year? and he wanted to kill himself. That's just pathetic
I have known people who don't have arms/legs and are extremely happy and positive

Beasley WILL drag everyone down, he will fcuk up our chemistry completely

Correct me if I'm wrong...

but does Beasley have Marijuana addiction? Is he a heavy smoker?

Marijuana as most should know... is a depressant. Hence maybe a huge factor to his "suciadal tendencies".

A new surrounding, and close mentoring from the coach and players can save him.

Gentry is a player's coach. Nash and Hill are great role models who not only are great leaders on the court, but off the court they keep chemistry by organizing team gatherings and social events. Thats the kind of environments Beasley needs.
Plus he can blend in with the young group in Dragic, Dudley, Lopez and Clark.

He might be a tweener, but an affective one playing SF most of the time...

Man, all this talk about Beasley and the ganja is blown waaaaaaaaaay out of proportion. Seriously, the guy had a picture taken one time with a bag of herb on the table and he went to rehab for some personal issues. Some of you guys make him out to be some dope fiend who can't go one day without a pound of green.

Since then he's been nothing but a good team mate with no off-court issues.

Or the exact oppistie happens, you put him in a positive nurturing happy go lucky atmosphere, and he might thrive, relax and start to enjoy playing b-ball again. This kid from what i hear didnt come from a good background, and maybe didnt have many good people arround him. People who werent expecting the world from him and wanted a peice. Thats a lot for a kid who is 21 to deal with, especially on the nba level with all the pressure that guys like wade and riley bring. With great vets to look out for him(steve, grant, hell even richardson), cool ass laid back coaches like gentry and staff not screaming at him all the time, and other young guys with no expectations, he might flourish.

If Amare jets and we get Beasley....We will still have more than enough money to get Tyrus Thomas too.

Nicely said - considering the amount of pressure put on a kid who goes #2 in the NBA draft, the money, the expectations, the media intrusion into your life, the sudden explosion of People Who Want Something - my god, it's a wonder all of them don't need psychiatric help.

Cut the kid some slack - we know next to nothing about him.

kayZee - if the kid does suffer from clinical depression, it has nothing to do with how much he makes or how fortunate he is. It's a horrible disease

Beasley has the potential, but the pressure that comes along with the second overall pick seem to be holding his potential down.
Unlike us, Miami Heat truely expected him to be someone immediately, while he's more of a project rather than an immediate all-star. With all the hype and expectations, maybe he just couldn't handle them.
Maybe a new setting will grant him the confidence he needed in his game, and start improving.

I am 100% open to aquiring him if possible.

I watch basketball. Both players have massive upside to be sure, but Thomas comes with the added benefit of freak athleticism. Beasely doesn't.

Per 36 Numbers for Both:

Thomas
Shoots at a .462 clip. Gets to the line 5.2 time per game (granted he shoots like crap when he gets there). 9.9 rebounds per, 1.9 steals & 2.5 blocks. Wrap it up with 15.0 ppg.

Beasley
Shoots at a .450 clip. Gets to the line 3.7 per game. 7.7 rebounds per, 1.2 steals per & 0.8 blocks per. Wrap it up with 17.9 ppg.

I'm not a big fan of stats, but I think that "lightyears" away from Beasley is a stretch. I wouldn't mind Beasley here, but if given a choice... I think Thomas has superior upside and simply needs a coach like Gentry that lets him make mistakes, a la Dragic, Lopez.

Beasley and Clark could make a versatile forward combo.

But it won't happen. Either we will not be willing to take on Beasley with the problems he has or neither will get playing time and instead we will see a Frye/Hill forward combo after overpaying for Frye.
