Heat selling #18

How can a team just "buy" a pick or sell one for that matter? Is it a strictly cash transaction? can a team over the limit buy it?

It is strictly a cash transaction. However, when you sign the 1st round pick their salary will count toward the cap, and you are allowed to sign your picks even if you are over the cap. All you need is an owner willing to put up the $$$. Unfortunately for the Suns, I don't see $arver buying any picks, unless he could flip it to another team for profit.

It's the one thing that could salvage his reputation a bit, though I doubt he cares.

Why does this headline scream "we're pretty sure we're getting a max alongside DWade"

Sarver should be on the phone getting this done especially if we're in a rebuild state with no Amare

If we S&T Amare for Beasley/Cook/JJ the Heat can get 3 maxes. I'd rather split that 3rd max on a SF and C but we'll see what Riley has up his sleeve.

Ah I keep forgetting that possibility. Yeah I'm with you though I definitely break that up and get 2 really good players..that gives you the sickest team possible in the current NBA salary structure.

I'd go Mike Miller over Gay and Heywood over Lee to save $ and re-sign Haslam, Q and Arroyo. They also have three 2nd rounders on the cheap this year.

Gay is going to get way overpaid. Riley is too smart to overpay Gay. What Miami needs to do is use the 3rd max money on fleshing out their roster with solid role players. It's pointless having 3 max guys and a bunch of crappy players on vet min.

I'd give up our 2 2nd rounders and cash.

I want Whiteside, Bledsoe and Henry in this draft.

Xavier Henry is the guy I'd hope we land. Possibly Avery Bradley at 18 as well. Bledsoe we don't need with Goran here and Whiteside is a project and we have Lopez at center.

What an obscure opinion..

And we have Richardson and Barbosa at SG so why do we need Henry then?

We ONLY have Lopez at C and he has back issues. Center is the biggest position of need and Whiteside could play PF possibly as well.

Steve Nash is 37, Dragic is inconsistant and Bledsoe will be a very good PG especially defensively.

I think we should trade up for Whiteside as well. I saw him play in person against UCF and he had a triple double...even though it was against inferior competition he is one of the most athletic big man I have ever seen, and his defensive awareness is ridiculous. He has a decent jumper too so I think he could even pair up with Fropez and give us a twin tower set-up. Unfortunately we'd probably have to trade up to the top 20 to get him, so I don't know what we would give up...maybe Barbosa and our picks to the Thunder for the 18th?
