I thought the point of trading Paul would be to balance the roster and give the team to Collison, since he is just as good ya know.

What does Orlando give us? Nelson? He would be a backup to Collison, much like Paul.

Otis Smith has since denied any discussions have taken place. Of course, he's well known to be very guarded about potential transactions.

Any Chris Paul trade for another team's starting point guard...just doesn't make sense.

Exactly. Why trade to move Collison into a major role, just stick more people in his position?

In the voice of Johnny Cochran, it just doesn't make sense.

In a vacuum, it doesn't. If it's in conjunction with other planned moves, then it may make perfect sense.

Oh the trade makes sense for both teams.

As the article said, Hornets does not want to commit to future salaries. This is where Vince Carter's expiring contract plays out. I think he was the important piece of this trade for the Hornets' side.
And they get to have another starting PG in Jameer Nelson.

For Magic's side, it makes sense too. Chris Paul and Dwight will be a nice 1-2. Then they have an insurance in SF in Posey just in case Barnes doesn't re-sign with magic or they lose Pietrus.

Nice first post. Hornets should clearly do it because then they'd have 2 starting caliber PG's and they get an expiring. Of course!

I'm not sure how it makes sense for Orlando though. Are you sure?
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Any trade that involves New Orleans moving Chris Paul isn't going to make sense. It would be a salary dump.

Who would they get for Paul, Dwight Howard? Hm. It's tempting, but if I'm New Orleans I'd pass.

It makes sense until the Hornets receive a million phone calls from other teams who can come up with better deals.

Hell, they don't even have to pay VC next season. Teams can offer their TE's. Don't you see how many teams are under the cap this season? They'll definitely forego of many other players and go after Paul if all the Hornets want to do is save money.

It comes down to...Chris Paul won't be traded. If he was, then they'll have to get a better offer... and Orlando just doesn't have enough outside of Dwight.

If Orlando has no chance at Paul, and Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit!

This would make the Magic a freaking TERROR on offense... Good God, and imagine Paul roaming the lanes on defense. Scary stuff. If we remember what Paul managed to do for another athletic center with no jumper (Chandler), imagine what he'll do for Dwight, with his significantly better offensive game and athletic ability?

I hope this happens; the league would be better for this happening.
