I think there is an effect that the Maggette trade has on MIN, it takes away one option.
Let's say we think Cousins is the BPA, but we really like Wesley Johnson because he fits our team. Before, if Cousins and Johnson are on the board at #4, I've advocated taking Cousins at #4 and offering him for #5 plus something. SAC probably won't take Johnson with Casspi at the SF, Donta as a SG-PF, and a need for a big. However, if they didn't like our demands, they could always say "take Cousins and his FG 78% at our try-out, we'll just take Monroe, who out front office loves.
Now Johnson is still on the board at #6. Before this trade, I'd have said that GSW (and DET for that matter), would prefer Cousins to Johnson, and would chip in an asset. With Maggette now moved though, I think they could just keep Johnson and "stick us" with Cousins.
Personally, I don't think being stuck with Cousins is a bad thing. I love his potential, and his hollinger numbers are off the charts. However, I get the feeling that Kahn and the front office are convinced Johnson is the way to go. They did good last season. targeting Tyreke and Rubio (and almost getting both), so I guess I'll just wait and see, and keep my fingers crossed.
