It'll probably be more nuanced than that with shifts in leverage going back and forth for the next ten years.

Honestly though, my one prediction with that guy that I feel stronger about is that I think the odds are very high that he does not play his best basketball with the team that drafts him. That "best basketball" level might be second team All-NBA, so I'm not knocking him there, but I just don't see everything going peaches for a decade from jump.

For posterity's sake: Wall.

John Wall ... if for no other reason, he's already a media darling. Wouldn't surprise me if Wall gets the preferential superstar treatment from the refs from day 1.

Of course there are a magnitude of other reasons to pick John Wall like his blazing fast speed, jaw dropping athletic ability and is a bona-fide play-maker. No way you pass on the only possible organization transformational player in this draft.

You will never be saying I told you so. Even if Cousins turns into a 20-10 big man all-star Wall will be a superstar.

Wall will rewrite the record books. I'm going on record with that statement.

Traylor even as a junior didn't put up across the board numbers like Cousins. Traylor was more like Tiny Gallon or Derrick Caracter than like Demarcus Cousins.

Milwaukee just blundered on that selection.

No doubt they blundered - I like my description better - double fubar.

I'm guessing the Tractor didn't have the top PG in the land as his teammate - along with 3 other first round picks (in that draft) as teammates. Could Bledsoe be the 2nd PG taken in the draft? As you know, I think Cousins has tremendous potential, but I think you conveniently work around or poohpooh the ideal situation he had at Kentucky - just my opinion.

Btw, I wouldn't mind Caracter as an UDFA pickup. From what I saw, he may not be a good athlete or put up impressive numbers, but he will physically beat up his opponents - the kind of guy you hate to play against. Gallon plays more like he wants to be a small forward.

I don't mind seeing the Wizards draft Caracter at 35, for the reasons you say, Ruz.Gallon can score and rebound. Like Caracter, he's limited defensively. He's three years younger than Caracter and I believe has better upside. Caracter's physically mature.

I think I might prefer the Wizards just go for a bigger body in Pittman or for a true goon, Zoubek.

Say no to Caracter. Fat guys rarely pan out in the pros.

The history's there, but as an undrafted FA, it might be worth taking a look in training camp at Pittman, Gallon, Caracter, Zoubek whichever isn't picked (maybe they all get picked).

I definitely like Zoubek as a walk-on free agent. Among the fat guys, I'd take Pittman because at least his weight is trending downward.

I am on the record, I want Wall. I always hear everybody on this board talking about needing defense. Well, here is our chance to get a possible great point who can put some serious D. on all the new great young 1's and 2's. Who do you want covering Evens, Curry, Williams, Rondo, Paul, and Rose. We have a chance to get a guy who at worst will be a rally good PG, and a very good defender. I do really like Cousins too but there is just really no way to get him without trading away future firsts, which I would never do. Still hoping to somehow come out of this with Seraphine too but whatever happens, it's going to be a great night and I hope you all enjoy it.

He's athletic, seemingly mature beyond his years and is considered maybe the top talent to come along in many years. He's also long, plays solid D and plays arguably the most important position on the court. Draft Wall. It's a no-brainer, imo.

Craig Sager sat and talked with both Wall and Cousins together yesterday, on the eve of the draft.

http://www.nba.com/video/channels/draft ... _intv.nba/

What I didn't know before the interview:

--First time in history two freshmen from the same team were voted AP 1st Team All American.
--Wall and Cousins have known one another since age 14.
--They're like brothers, with Cousins remembering Wall's first dunk.
-- Wall says Demarcus works hard and is the best big man in the country.
--Cousins knows folks are watching him and he's trying to change his image at least through his appearance. To me, he really succeeded in obtaining a school boy look.

I hope all these moves EG is doing is geared towards finally trading down to the 4th spot. There've been many rumours about teams in the teens offering things to move down. Theoretically can we use our signed players plus drafts to move into the fourth slot? I actually wouldn't mind making chicago contenders if we could draft wall and cousins together. They've played on a winning team together and possibly could again.

CCJ-

Besides Cousins, are there any guys that you think the Wizards should draft in the position that they are in? Anyone like a Millsap or Blair in this draft?

are you following me? I think I saw you in the draft thread when I said we should trade into the lottery cause I like Aldrich. I think your response was then how will you make it happen. Perhaps a Hinrich and the 17th pick for a future second round would do it huh? Too bad it's only 3 spots higher. Maybe I should suggest us trading for the first pick so we can end up with the fourth.. oh wait we have the first pick.

I don't get your know it all attitude as though you can speak for the wizards front office and what they are or are not trying to do. If you haven't noticed the attitude towards cousins in many quarters is improving as people realize how good he can possibly be. If i was a FO these discussions would be there, even if it's simple inquiries. So you really have no idea what they are doing. My suggesting getting cousins is no worse than these trade scenarios people bring up that never happen. Go tell those guys to let it go.
