ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
The rumor that was reported is that you offered:
Devin Harris and #3 to the Hornets. So my first question is, do you like that? I have to think yes. I think it would put you in the lead for Lebron and at least a guy like Bosh, Stoudamire or Boozer in the off season. Most stud PF's covet playing with an super star PG.
If this is the case and the Hornets asked for #27, 31, and a future pick would you do that too?
I am a Jazz fan, and think I might consider giving up the better PG in DWill for a package like that. We would then flip the #3 for #'s 4 & 16 with Minnesota and take Favors, Monroe @6 or 9 after trading up with the late round stuff we have, and then Paul George at 16.
Who would you rather have? CP3 or DWill, and would you give up 3 more late picks?

Wait, you serious? Deron Williams for the 3, 27, 31, and Devin Harris?

If Utah was serious (no way they'd do this right?), I will personally pay for Devin's plane ticket.

If Utah doenst keep Boozer, I think Dwill will be disappointed.
Trading him maybe an option later on.

I like Paul more. I think Paul is better comfortably...assuming he comes back 100%. Butr would I make that deal? Of course.

You need to also consider that after docs did his knee surgery, it's now bone-on-bone grinding. How long can his knee hold up?

Re: ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
Durability was one of the main reasons the Jazz drafted Dwill over Paul. Even with John Stockton made it through a long career as a diminutive sized PG, we felt Paul would not hold up. I think he will have problems his whole career.
Straight up DWill is still better, but if you add in the injury and durability factor Dwill wins hands down.

Re: ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
Although it seems like at times his knee injury has been over blown a little, it's not some cake walk that people at the other side of the over reaction spectrum are attempting to make it.
His knee injury has to be taken very seriously, it's not some joking matter that you can just ignore if you're looking to acquire him for other potentially franchise changing assets.
Meniscus injuries are no walk in the park...

Seriously? That's a cop out. Paul didnt hurt his knee do to his size. Knee VS. TV Camera....Camera wins. I dont care if its Paul's knee, Derron's, Stocton's or the Jolly Green Giant.
Jazz got a great player...but they took the wrong guy.

VC4P just worded it dead on. You have to be concerned and you have him checked out and you make the gut check call if all turns out well. His age bodes well for the injury....but knee injuries are no joke.
Thinking...ah you see? Paul isnt durable...Utah did the right thing taking Derron over Paul...well that is nonsense. Ths wasnt durability its bad luck. Career wise so far...Paul>>>>>>>>Derron comfortably...and I do like Derron a lot. Paul is just...WOW...off the charts awesome.
So back to what to do. You have 12 doctors look at him and you make the call. Then you use back door people to ask World Wide Wes...seriously...odds go up with Paul over Bosh, etc?
Then you make the deal and RUN.

Re: ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
I think one of the main advantages of dealing for Paul, other then, you know, dealing for Paul, is that even if Lebron was just blowing smoke, or even if he ultimately decides to go elsewhere, Paul still attracts one of the top 3 big men free agents at worst and/or Melo next year.

Re: ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
I think its this year or bust. I dont see Melo leaving Denver. New CBA...the way he handled his last contract, his comments about not needing to test the market...I think Melo is staying put.
But I agree on part two. Someone has to be thinking...wow...Nets look very sexy.
ANd honestly...i think the odds of landing Lebron go up considerably. While World Wide Wes is blowing a lot of smoke about a lot of things...I think this one was true.

Chris Paul and Lebron. Someone punch me in the face. I am clearly dreaming.

Re: ESPN Reports CP3 Trade Offer
http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2010/06/nj_nets_getting_drafty_its_sti.html
Nets' draft-day strategy will unfold with LeBron James in mind
They’ve got every ball in the air right now, with a singular purpose in mind, and it is only partly related to tomorrow’s draft.
Indeed, you might say the Nets are far more preoccupied with how this dovetails into free agency than the pick itself.
Here’s the directive, and it really hasn’t changed: Rod Thorn, more than anything else today, is still trying to create the second full max slot in case LeBron says, “Okay, I’m coming, and I’m bringing along so-and-so.”
That’s the ticket, and we’ll say it again: If you’re in for a penny, you’re in for a pound. The Nets would have to use $16M of the $27M they have in cap room on LBJ, and his friend isn’t necessarily going to be had for the leftover $11M.
So one day before the draft, everything is in play – a Devin Harris salary dump, a trade down the first round to save a few million, and virtually anything that will maximize their chances of bagging the grand prize a week from Thursday.
Can they pull it off? Who the hell knows? But it would basically put the Nets on a even playing field with the Knicks.
And you can’t go forward without creating the best possible scenario for LeBron if you’re one of the five teams on his list – which they are. They truly believe they have a shot at him – at virtually every free agent, actually – other than D-Wade.
* * * * *
But here’s the explosive factor, as far as the rest of the league – and maybe the Nets – is concerned: Chris Paul is back in play, no matter what George Shinn says, according to an agent and exec we talked to today.
Typically, that might lead to low-ball offers. But teams are so motivated to at least play along with that CP-LBJ scenario – because they are truly close – they’re going to dance to the Worldwide Wes tune as long as he keeps singing it.
But Shinn, we’re told, has reached the conclusion that he should consider moving CP because a) He’s beginning to realize that the sale won’t happen; and b) he’s going to take a bath next year unless he trims payroll.
