This also assumes that Favors and not Cousins, would be the target at #4. I would probably bet that way too, but there are many who believe that Cousins could be the top guy from this draft years from now too, particularly if the team has good perimeter players, which Philly would in Holiday and Turner. Also, if there is any merit to the rumors about Favors not being in great shape, that might have thrown up some red flags when you consider that this should be the most important few weeks of his life.

you dont know that. He could get stronger, improve his rebounding and post moves/post defense. But he might not. The potential is there but its much too early to tell if "he will be capable of playing either" because as of now, he isnt

Also, if the Portland is making Fernandez available Minny could trade for him and pick Cousins at #4. That would so;ve most of their problems.

Analyzing the NBA Combine Measurements
May 22, 2010
Derrick Favors’ measurements (6-8 ¾ without shoes, 7-4 wingspan, 9-2 standing reach) are excellent as well, giving him enough size and length to slide into the center position (once he bulks up) and giving him terrific dimensions for a power forward. As the youngest player in the draft, Favors needs to continue to add bulk to his 245-pound frame, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue at all. As time moves on, he will continue to fill out and add muscle in the weight room.

Interestingly enough, Favors’ measurements compare quite favorably with those of Dwight Howard, a player he draws some (perhaps slightly optimistic) comparisons to. Howard measured just a quarter of an inch taller than Favors at the same age, was five pounds lighter and had a wingspan just half an inch longer. His measurements are comparable to the likes of Chris Bosh, Nene and Emeka Okafor, and are superior to those of Al Horford, another player who he’s often compared to.

I have no reason to doubt that Favors will add bulk to his frame. Considering the size of centers these days, I think a team can draft Favors and groom him as their center of the future.

He says that if he leaks the deal, it won't go through.

I'm calling BS.

Why is that grounds for BS? If it is a deal that hasn't been finalized another team could make a better offer during negotiations.

It's probably BS but not because of that statement.

I think by now, nearly every deal has been assessed. Just my opinion though.

We'll see.

Report on CBS is saying we are now trying "harder" to unload Brand.

Trying "harder" to unload Brand?? Hmmmm... what does that even mean? Are we now prepared to move Thad, Speights, and a future 1st with Brand in order to take back a bad contract?

Hey... do you have a link to that CBS story?

Deal the #2 and Brand to Minny for Big Al J, #4 (Favors) and the #16 (Paul George) and I will be ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!

PG- Holiday, Lou Will
SG- George, Meeks, Green
SF- Iguodala, Nocioni, Thad, Kapono
PF- Al Jeff, Favors, Jason Smith
C- Hawes, Speights

This is a solid young team with big time potential!!!!!

I can understand your excitement over that but I would be disappointed if that's what happened. Jefferson is a decent enough player but he isn't a #1 option on a winning team. For all of Favors upside, he's still a very raw player and could bust out like so many other bigs that were taken at the top of draft.

Turner is not only the BPA but he's also a VERY safe pick with very low bust potential. Again, there's a reason Minnesota and others want to trade up to get him so badly.

Would not say definite, but agree with you 100%. I trust that SF76 is correct and will not worry or be concerned about it, however. What a crazy time of the year!

To me, that's the only thing that gives that No.4 plus Gomes for Iggy plus 2011 No. 1 pick rumor any legs is the fact that we would still get Turner and it back doors a way for Collins to get Favors too. Of course we have heard that Iggy is not on the market, but it is not a stretch at all for me to see Minny calling with this to check on our interest.

I am absolutely convinced that absent an act of blackmail, we are not getting rid of Brand's contract before 2012.

its funny how having such a high pick is a blessing but also sort of a mini curse - we are truly thrilled and excited about the draft for the first time in years but it also weighs heavily that the pick might not be what we want - regardless we are going to have a top talent which is whats really important and exciting - Id rather be nervous about making the proper pick then pissed over the fact that we would be drafting just another role player
