My offseason

Post#1 » by Space Jam » Wed Jun 23, 2010 7:46 pm

Let Joe Johnson walk, he is at the end of his prime and whoever signs him will most likely be overpaying.

Then trade Josh Smith, 2010 1st rounder, and 2011 2nd rounder
for
Rudy Gay and Hasheem Thabeet

This gives ATL Joe Johnsons replacement and a Center with potential to be a star.

Get rid of Bibby NO MATTER WHAT for maybe a future 2nd rounder.

Free Agency:
Get a solid PG Steven Blake or Luke Ridnour
Get a solid PF/C option incase Thabeet is not ready to play Center..maybe Brendan Haywood?
Team:
C- Haywood
PF- Horford
SF- Williams
SG- Gay
PG- Teague
Bench- Jamal Crawford, , Thabeet, Ridour/Blake, Evans, West, etc.

1. The Hawks can't trade a 2010 1st rounder for Gay because he's a free agent.

2. No team is going to trade for Josh Smith if he has to play SF.

Sign and trades can't happen until 2 weeks after the draft. We'd have to give them a future pick.

That trade is disgusting in any case.

If we can't get Gay, I'd like to make a run at John Salmons. But we need to trade either Williams or Bibby this offseason.

How? Thabeet was a top 5 pick last year, he has great potential. Josh Smith will most likely get traded this off season, and Gay is a young good shooter.

If we keep the draft pick I think we should take Jordan Crawford our of Xavier.

Thabeet is a scrub who has no real desire to be great and was sent down to the D-League.
Rudy Gay has abyssal basketball IQ.
Josh Smith was an All-Star snub this year and finished 2nd in DPotY voting this year, and there are no indications that we'd trade him.

Are you kidding? No indication? Go type in "Josh Smith rumors" on google and see what comes up. We shopped him last offseason too.Thabeet was sent down to the D-league to learn and grow into a better player. Sitting behind Gasol wasn't helping him. Let's see what you come up with then.

We shopped him last offseason too.

According to Chad Ford? Was that the rumor where the Hawks were trying to give Smith away for expirings on draft day to save money....when they were actually negotiating a trade for Jamal Crawford?

You're basing everything on Chad Ford, who pretty much has admitted to making up stuff that he thinks makes sense. And if Thabeet had ANY talent at all, he would have been playing ahead of Darrell Arthur.

Congrats, you fetched a year old article that turned out to be complete bullsh*t. Guess who it quotes? Chad Ford.

The Thabeet tweets from Bill Simmons mailbag is enough to never want to trade for him. It's one thing to be raw. It is another to have no desire to improve.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take Thabeet if he was really cheap, like a Mo Evans cheap. But past that? Hell no.

Most likely this is what we're looking at:
Center- Horford
PF- Smith
SF- Williams
SG- Salmons
PG- Teague or Bibby
Bench- Jamal Crawford, Jordan Crawford, ZaZa, Evans, West, teague or bibby

Ok, I am redoing this since JJ will most likely be back
-lets get a veteran for the bench maybe Jermaine O Neal or Brad Miller?
- Trade Bibby
- Sign backup PG (Blake, Ridnour, Robinson)
- Trade Jchill
Team:
C- Horford
PF-Smith
SF- Williams
SG- JJ
PG- Teague
Bench- Ja. Crawford, Jo. Crawford, Miller/O Neal, Ridnour/Blake/Robinson, ZaZa, Evans, West

Thats a pretty good bench...
