18th Pick?

Post#1 » by ardthomp » Tue Jun 22, 2010 10:57 pm

I saw on here that Miami is willing to sell their 18th pick for cap space. Maybe we could grab that from Miami? What say you?

On top of this, if the Pacers do somehow pull off a trade for the 16/23 from the T-Wolves, what would our draft look like then with 16/18/23?

16= Patrick Patterson (if we get lucky)
18= Eric Bledose
23= Larry Sanders or Daniel Orton

Not Bad

For me, if we got those picks I'd add some perimeter punch too. Either Henry, George @ 16 or Crawford, Anderson @ 23, whichever it is just take a big opposite. I like all the bigs you listed, with exception to Orton over Brackins. Bledsoe is fine too.

I was thinking:
16 - Bledsoe
18 - Sanders
23 - Dominique Jones

I'm sure that Miami would only be willing to move the 18th pick for someone with the cap space or TE to take on James Jones' buyout and/or Daequan Cook.

We simply don't have the cap space or ability to use a TE to make a deal like this and would have to make it a 3 team deal with a team that doesn't want cap space, but isn't quite near the tax that taking on salary would put them there. Tough situation, and I'm sure that team would want the #18 for themselves.

Maybe if we did this TJ and #10 to Minny for Gomes and #16 Pacers save $4 million right off, can cut Gomes for another $3.2 million is savings as only $1 million of his salary is garanteed. There would be a TE generated by this correct. TJ makes $8.5, Gomes makes $4.2, you get a $4.3 million TE. Jones makes $4.65 with a 15% trade kicker. Send the TE to the Heat with McBob for the #18 and Jones. They cut McBob who is ungaranteed, we can then sign him back if we want. We cut Gomes and James Jones of deal them to someone who would want the instant cap savings, New Orleans maybe. We get Collison and Songaila for Gomes and Jones. Got to do it quick though because as of July 1 Gomes is fully Garanteed!

Pacers would end up with #16, #18 Collison and Songiala for TJ, McBob and #10.
