David Kahn?
Hey guys, Knick fan here. Was curious to know something. How do Minn fans view David Kahn. he's constantly in the papers and def made some controversial moves. But do Minn fans like him? Figured I'd come here and get it right from the source.

I can't say for the next 36-48 hours. I thought he was doing alright, and I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume these rumors are all just crazy talk... But damn, I'm terrified he's going to do something insane like give big Al away for Randolph. I just don't have any idea what to tell you man. I'm cautiously optimistic I guess, but I'm also jaded and wary, as are all experienced MN sports fans.

Re: David Kahn?
Agree.. come back on Friday.
So far, he has not DONE anything wrong. Passing on Curry.. looks bad, but he was at GS and Flynn operated in a tougher system...so not ready to call that a fail yet. Plus he negated it with trading two bench players for the #5 pick (rubio)
I have feeling he has a bunch of deals ready to go at a drop of a hat depending on the situation. Thats me being optimmistic.

David Kahn nearly walked away from the last draft with BOTH Tyreke Evans and Ricky Rubio.
We're good.

Wait, who? Kahn? Never heard of him.
But seriously, it's obnoxious how much people rip on Kahn for "rumors" in the media. Especially rumors coming from ass clowns at Yahoo! and BSPN that have made it clear they hate Davey-Boy.
How about you try judging the man on what he ACTUALLY does, not on some 3rd hand rumor of what he supposedly THOUGHT of doing? I've had some inappropriate thoughts about that gal in accounting, but I haven't acted on them. So I'm not a bad guy... yet...

Does this smell like chloroform to you?

That's the worst argument for a GM I've ever heard in my life. Look what he almost did! No, neither player is here...YET, but...no, he didn't get to draft one of them at all. But the other one COULD come over like any year now...
Jesus.

touche, but lets not forget about Aldridge for Ty Thomas shall we. or the incredible luck you had moving up for Rose. Point is, every GM makes questionable calls, the draft is a very inprecise science.
Wether or not Rubio is here, the simple fact that he traded two bench players for the #5 pick is impressive. And be honest, if you are at #5 with Rubio on the board, you take him. Again, passing on Curry is the only bad thing he has really Done and thats if you totally write of flynn right now.

Wait, I'm not here defending Paxson. That is not what I'm doing here. You don't know the anger with which I speak about not picking Roy or Aldridge.
Go ahead, ask me how I feel about Tyr---WE DO NOT MENTION HIS NAME HERE

As an outsider, I feel Kahn gets a bad rep sometimes.
Let him work for a couple of years, see what he does first.

Re: David Kahn?
I like him. A lot of people are judging him based on rumormongers in the media, instead of what he has done. I think we have to give him another year or two before we'll really know.
It is refreshing to have a gm that has a brain and likes to communicate with the fans, very refreshing.
At least we all know where he is coming from. Unlike Mchale, he wanted to be fishing all the time, I think basketball was getting in the way.

This. I've liked some of what he's done, disliked some other stuff he's done. This summer will go a long way towards forming a stronger opinion about him. I'm pretty pumped about his Ronzone hire.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

LOL! OK, you may be right, but this particularly hurts, since it came from a Bulls fan, who wrecked us. Here's my explanation though, as I've heard the story explained:
1. Kahn identified Tyreke Evans as the guy we wanted, and had him high on the list. Unfortunately, we lost in the lottery and had the guy picked in front of us.
+1 for identifying the talent. -0 for not winning top 3 pick in lottery. -0 if someone picks your guy 1st.
2. Kahn didn't give up. He then negotiated a draft day deal, where SAC would send MIN Tyreke if we sent them Flynn + James Johnson. MIN had the #18 pick, and the #28, and other assets. He started trying to trade up with CHA, at pick #12. He went after #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16, until CHI chose JJ and ruined the trade, sticking MIN with Flynn. Kahn continued working with CHI, making other offers to try to acquire Johnson, but CHI would agree to none of them.
+1 for the new trade with SAC. +1 for the effort (x5). GM's can't control what other GM's do.
I think if Kahn had come out of that draft with Tyreke Evans and Ricky Rubio, then you'd be hearing how he was the next draft wonder-god, the new Pesti. And as I've heard it, that annointing was very close to happening.
