Wow. This is very very surprising. I thought it'd be Ladd or Steeger, but Big buff. Nooo.

Knew this was coming. I wonder what picks and prospects we actually got in return.

Big Buff did absolutely nothing all year long until his torrid playoff streak. It's a tough loss but I was no prepared to lose guys like Andrew Ladd or Versteeg. Ladd is one of the more under rated two way players in the NHL. From a salary cap perspective, Brian Campbell's departure would have made the most sense. But his return in the playoffs really catapulted us. So I can't complain about his return....

Sad that Big Buff is gone but changes were inevitable.

I loved Buff but his value is probably highest now, I knew he would be traded.

24th and 54th pick I'm reading.

I'm just glad we won it all this year. This would have been crushing if we fell just short.

Yeah but when it's highest, you're supposed to get a ridiculous return. Instead they got nothing AND included Eager, Sopel and Aliu.

The Blackhawks aren't going to intentionally make bad trades to piss of their fanbase after getting it back. This was probably the best offer on the table that gives them cap relief and value in return.

Sheds $4.18 million, still have some work to do. Please get rid of Kris Versteeg before he kills us all.

Seriously though, this is an okay move. Byfuglien only turns it on in the playoffs, he's invisible in the regular season. Eager and Sopel are invisible all the time. Reasoner pretty much sucks, but Morin is a good prospect. And now they have a good amount of picks in the first couple of rounds.

Don't be mad at Bowman, the guy you need to direct your anger to is Tallon, who apparently has no idea how finances work

this is in way a surprise... we lose a little depth in the short term but now we have 4 picks in the top 60 in a good (imo) draft

if pickard or campbell fall to 24 that would be huge!!! we need good young net minders not named cc or richards

I would actually try and trade up still to get Alex Burmistrov. Mark me down right now that i think in 2 years he will be in the league and in 3 could be a huge star... kids the deal

it was expected to be steeg or sharpy because KB is ready to take a spot (3-4 line)but this is a good move minus loses Aliu (a nice prospect in that 8/10 excitement range to KBs 10/10 range)

This was the right thing to do. Sell high, reap the rewards and (hopefully) keep Patrick Sharp

I suddenly understand the trials and travails of being a Kirk Hinrich fan.

With everyone knowing we HAVE to dump players as cap casualties it makes it tough to get maximum return. Coupled with the fact the draft is this weekend and we knew we wanted picks time was running short. This had to have been the best deal on the table and I'm happy that we're for sure keeping Sharp and Hammer. I'm happy these three guys will get to play together next year at least. I wish the best for all three of them.
