Pacers still eye young point guard

The Indiana Pacers’ latest efforts to get a young point guard had them discussing a deal to send the No. 10 pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Eric Maynor and the 18th and 21st picks. Two league sources, however, said it’s unlikely that trade happens.

Eh, wouldn't be a bad trade, but I think there are better offers to explore. Maynor by no means is probably on anyone's practical top 5 list anyway. I say we take a walk around on draft day and listen to what teams are saying before seriously consider something like this.

Exactly. I don't like that trade at all. Maynor could be a decent peice to a good team but to us, what would he do? Larry Bird said today if they hold onto the 10th pick, they will pick best player available. Well, if we did our homework, we could strike gold with the 10th pick. A guy who can be a force. We know what we will get from Maynor.

Also, lets say we make this trade.

Maynor, 2 rookies, Hibbert and Rush enter the season with Granger...... that looks like a rebuilding squad more then a squad who thinks it can make playoffs and then do a lil damage in 2011. How long before Granger demands a trade?

I actually disagree.
What is the difference if we don't make this trade.
Our vets plus the 10th pick (rookie).

If we make the trade
Our vets + Maynor + 2 rookies (18 and 21)
This is a much stronger team than the 1st scenario for a couple of reasons.
Maynor is not the ultimate answer in my opinion (although he showed enough promise last year), but is a great backup in the worst scenario. Ofcourse he can start and surprise us.
The other benefit of the trade is having 2 bites at the cherry in the draft. There is not much of a drop off between 10 and 18/21 anyway. Plus moving down can still net us Bledsoe at 18.

I'd take this trade
