Deng & #17 for #8?

Alot of Rumors about this. Deng is very underrated and over-shadowed because of his contract. He's a solid all-around player, not a #1 star for a team but a good #2/#3 option.

What do you Clippers fans think?

Since posting the Bulls/Clippers trade rumor, I've spoken with officials from both clubs. Some thought it made a lot of sense, but the one with the most juice said it's not going to happen. He said the Bulls have talked with several clubs, including the Clippers, but that in the end they will end up keeping their 17th pick. Posturing? We'll see.

Chris Broussard, ESPN

It made a lot of sense for the Bulls, not the Clippers.

^^ Agreed. Rather keep the pick than take on Deng's contract, and injury-riddled career.

Deng is actually overrated, especially for what he is paid. He is overly injured. Has little offensive game outside of being a standstill mid-range shooter and doesn't defend well. Clips have to turn down this trade.

Huh? Luol's one of the best man defenders on the Chicago Bulls. He's a very good defensive SF.

I agree with you guys though. It doesn't make much sense to me either.

How about we just roll with our cap space into free agency, instead of taking Deng's awful contract? Besides, why would we help you guys in the LeBron sweepstakes when the Clippers are trying to do the same thing? I know we're the Clippers, blah blah blah, but we're still going to make our pitch. The Clippers will never know, if they don't try. Same goes for every other team in the free agent derby. The Clippers are not going to throw this summer away for Luol Deng.

first of all this trade cannot happen before July 1st. So the team have to agree on the trade before the draft and pick for eachother.
If Bulls want to get rid of Deng they have include some other asset(s) and not expect anything back other than TPE and maybe a conditional second round pick.

If the Clippers do this hopefully they get Paul George at #17, but even then Deng and his contract ($11.3M, $12.3M, $13.3M, & $14.25M) is a poor choice for the Clippers.

If this happens it will once again show why the clippers are who they are. It will be The Clippers being the Clippers.

Why would we help out the bulls with this, thought LA wanted James, if The Clippers agree to this, we will all see James heading to Chi with another max contract player. That would be scary.

I say we all say no to this. And hopefully our voices are heard.

If the Clippers do this then one of two things will happen

1) I will no longer be a fan of the Clippers as long as Donald Sterling is the owner
2) I will not be able to go through with one, so I will begrudgingly cheer for the team but spam message boards saying that Neil Olshey is the worst GM of all time and Donald Sterling is a cheapo for not getting a better GM.

It'll probably be option 2 but I dream of the day that I can actually go through with option 1 :(.

Deng isn't overrated, he def. is not worth his HUGE contract.

Clippers should be smart and take Aminu, or trade their pick to the T'Wolves. Get Brewer and #16; Take George or another SF at #16.

1) Um yeah....we'll first wait how free agency works out and if we can't land a player we might look to trade for Deng(but surely not for any more value then a TPE), even tough i don't see him being a fit here.

2) I doubt anyone cares if some other teams fan has a soft spot for us or not. We also couldn't do that deal before July 1st, which makes including those draft picks pretty unrealistic.

BTW: I've read that "rumor" on the front page and it stated that this won't happen.

We might want to look at a SF who defend or can shoot from long range for a change. Maggs, Thornton, Gay, Deng... jeez.

Deng is overrated and the Clippers would be dumb to take on his contract especially with the new CBA around the corner. The guy is scheduled to make 11 million next season, and it increases by 1 million up to 2014. Do you guys want to pay somebody that type of money with a hard cap around the corner? I hope your organization has more brains than that.

Luol Deng is 24 yrs old. He has nothing but upside, and he has something else playoff experience. His game is better then any guy sitting there at 8th and any free agent that is willing to come play for the Clippers. Lebron aint coming sorry. Deng can play some 4 as well and his range was extented to 3pts last season. He is not super flashy yes, but he gets his numbers, and is a great team player. Chicago does not have a post threat and that hurts his game, but with Griffin and Kaman he will drop jumpers all night long. This is a chemistry problem in Chicago not a skill problem. Deng fits the Clips way better then the Bulls. Passing on him would be dumb.

How about a big fat no from the Clips. If the Bulls want to trade us Deng, then it will have to be Deng/Taj/JJ/#17/CHA first for future second.

Bulls did their part to get under the cap, so it looks like we can't put this "rumor" to rest.
