Pacers, Thunder In Serious Talks On Maynor, 10th Pick Deal

Post#1 » by sonic-ben » Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:15 am

The Thunder are holding serious talks with the Pacers to trade Eric Maynor, in addition to the 18th and 21st picks for the 10th overall selection.

I like it if it goes through. THe thing I wonder is - can we give them 26 instead. I mean INdy is desperate for a decent PG, and Maynor is coming off a great season where he looked like he can be a pretty good starter. Can Presti squeeze a better deal out of Maynor +Picks?

A better deal? Maynor was drafted 20th. In this draft, for a good floor general but not a Top 10 point guard, to obtaining a Top 10 talent, regardless of position, is not a bad deal.

Maynor may have been drafted 20th, but he played very well, someones draft position becomes irrenevant once they play for a season.

I will admit that perhaps I like Maynor a little to much and perhaps I am getting a bit carried away, but I dont think the difference between 10th and 18th pick in this draft isn't that big, but i guess depends on if Presti is in love with someone in the 8-10 range.

that's a lot to give and talent distribution in this draft might not be all that related to draft position. I don't see that much difference between them. if Presti can get someone like Bledsoe later in the draft and get the big man he covets at 10, then it's a good deal. But will he really be better then Sanders or Seraphin? Are there any scoring bigs availanle at 10? Is this for Patterson? Is Aldrich worth dropping 2 picks and servicable PG? Who is there at 10 that would be starting over Green/Ibaka/Collison/Krstic?
I'd go Bledsoe/Bradley with 18, Seraphin/Sanders with 21 and Crawford/Pondexter/Elliot with 26 atm.

from what ive read OKC wants Gordon Hayward. tho not sure how that makes sense since Durant and Hayward play the same position. but thats what ive read multiple places.

Woj says it's Hayward, Givony says Aldrich.

just looked at haywards reach, its **** no way he can play 4

so either Durant is going to be moved to 4 or for some reason presti thinks Haywards 8 minutes at backup sf will be game changing (minutes green should be getting really)

if we pick hayward presti is definitely slipping into the insane side of insane genius

or im just missing something

I pray that it isn't Aldrich . Collison right now is a prime Aldrich.

Aldrich is a much better shotblocker, lengthier, and smarter at both ends of the floor

likely a better passer as well (certainly the better outlet passer)

maybe a better rebounder

of course its possible he just ends up collison

Sounds like this deal has died down.

Apparently the trade is being worked on again after seeing all the big guys going early. I really hate this trade, don't do it.
