call me bitter but the thing that kills me, and i'm sure other knicks fans, is that the
prospect of a franchise getting the best player in basketball in his supreme prime in one decade, only to sign the best player in basketball in his supreme prime fewer than 15 years later...it's a bit much to contemplate. I started following bball in 1992 and had my fill of Jordan eliminating the knicks year in and year out. That 6 year window between 1994 and 1999 was the best, most exciting knicks basketball i've ever seen, and half of that was jordan controlling the east from his pulpit in chicago.
I won't abandon the knicks if lebron signs there...but let's say i'm really, really tired of the same old song and dance of our team getting destroyed by the best basketball player in the world playing for a team with a horned animal as its logo.
this of course was followed up by the Decade of Decrepitude on the part of knicks management. I'm cautiously optimistic, but in this league, where favors (boston-minn) and giveaways (LAL-Mem) and luck to an already lucky team (duncan to SA) forge champions, we've come up on no side of those scenarios.
