call me bitter but the thing that kills me, and i'm sure other knicks fans, is that the prospect of a franchise getting the best player in basketball in his supreme prime in one decade, only to sign the best player in basketball in his supreme prime fewer than 15 years later...it's a bit much to contemplate. I started following bball in 1992 and had my fill of Jordan eliminating the knicks year in and year out. That 6 year window between 1994 and 1999 was the best, most exciting knicks basketball i've ever seen, and half of that was jordan controlling the east from his pulpit in chicago.

I won't abandon the knicks if lebron signs there...but let's say i'm really, really tired of the same old song and dance of our team getting destroyed by the best basketball player in the world playing for a team with a horned animal as its logo.

this of course was followed up by the Decade of Decrepitude on the part of knicks management. I'm cautiously optimistic, but in this league, where favors (boston-minn) and giveaways (LAL-Mem) and luck to an already lucky team (duncan to SA) forge champions, we've come up on no side of those scenarios.

It isn't as much about adversity as it is playing the odds at this point... I think the Knicks are still in a great spot and at least at this point they need to turn their attention away from the FA class and start looking at buying out picks wherever they possibly can. Get a young solid core together and build for the future. It's kinda like Jack in Lost said... there are no shortcuts, if we wanna do this were gonna have to do it the right way.

Speaking to this point...if NYK strikes out with LeBron, Bosh, DWade, and Amare does that make seven less attractive for free agents after this summer? I say that because if Melo and Durant sign extensions this summer than who can NYK reasonably get that is going to challenge the new improved teams of the East next season? I don't see teams giving up great players for cap space JUST to dump salary. And the players we would get will not be at the level of true studs needed to challenge/ beat others for the ECF.

IMHO, I think Walsh needs to make a splash tonight because selling NYC will not get CBosh and LeBron here (the city sells itself)...they want to hear the Knicks' game plan in winning a championship. Chris Bosh said this earlier today that he wants to hear the plan on how the organization is going to win a championship and what will their team look like after tonight. We have to prepare the steak so that it tastes exquisite and not try to sell the "sizzle". I'm not conceding that NYK is totally out of it or that Walsh doesn't have a great plan to sell BUT I never had high hopes that LeBron would come anyway.

i'm not going to freak out like i would assume most of the 26 pages on here are about, but we are royally **** after the cook and hinrich trades.

how can chicago afford to extend noah and/or rose when they're up for new deals? after the lockout, are there contracts going to be that much smaller?

Yeah... with Curry having a warrant for arrest don't count on any of that happening... Its official, 6-24-10 marks the worst day for Knick fans

Are there really Knicks fans here with this overreaction?Bluest I agree with you in regards to acting like little kids. It is like someone took their bottle and gave it to their most hated enemy. Let things play out first with the draft and free agency before overreacting on anything. Also for the knick fans who stated they arent gonna be a knick fan anymore because of this bulls trade I am not sure how much of a fan you really was.

Oh come on, (In Mark Jackson voice) you're better than that.

That just means the deal is done and they can't technically talk about it yet.

But who wants to take a crowbar to Hinrich's knees so he fails his physical. I'll give you a 1,000 bucks.

Broussard:

Just got confirmation from league official that Ric Bucher's report of Kirk Hinrich, #17 and $ to Wizards is definite. Gr8t for Bulls fans

If Chi trades away contracts of Deng and Hinrich, i don't see how LeBron and Bosh can resist joining Rose and Noah.

heres what our team is trying to do with free agency (if interested)

Hinrich to Washington a done deal
Posted by mikemcgraw on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 18:40

The Wizards have agreed to a deal that will allow the Bulls to clear enough cap room to sign a second major free agent.

The Bulls will send Kirk Hinrich and the No. 17 pick to Washington for a second-rounder. The Bulls may get the No. 35 overall pick in return and would most likely target a big man.

By removing Hinrich's $9 million salary from the payroll, the Bulls' game plan is to combine Atlanta's all-star shooting guard Joe Johnson with either LeBron James or Chris Bosh. If the Bulls sign James, they'll have to move Luol Deng somewhere.

There was a rumor that Washington and Orlando have talked about trading Gilbert Arenas and Vince Carter. That might be why the Magic has made an offer for Deng, backup center Marcin Gortat and swingman Mickael Pietrus.
