Pick 4, Wesley Johnson, Syracuse

Post#1 » by Busch Legion » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:09 am

Does this mean Corey Brewer is trade bait, or relegated to the bench? Maybe the starting SF while Johnson slides to SG?

How good of a passer is he? The defense will be there imo, good for a SF. Sounds like he just likes to shoot jumpers/get fed in transition... which means he can't create for himself/others. I hope he develops that because we need that.

What else?

What it means is that we're fully committed to a run & gun offense.

We just picked a Shawn Marion clone with a better J, and people are upset. HA!

Snipes--Sniper (shooting) I could deal with that nickname.

I'm officially on the "please let Wes Johnson be really good" bandwagon

Lets hope he's at least the shooter he's said to be and not a one hit wonder like Ariza w/Lakers.

I like him too. Good shooter, good defender, high character and IQ with a good ability to move off the ball. Might not have been the greatest value but I'm not disappointed with him.

I'm officially on the "know that Cousins will be great because its the nature of the Wolves to pass or trade away better prospects" bandwagon.

I'm seriously done with this ****. I know I'll get some responses like "good, we don't need you here anyway" but if that's your response I really wonder how hopelessly optimistic you are.

I didn't like the Wesley Johnson pick, but then the Babbitt trade was an utter failure ontop of that. It really validates some of the original feelings I had about Kahn when Taylor was completely messing up the hiring process and it looked like Kahn was a last minute stitch job. I bought into Kahn's BS for a little while, but now I can see that I was foolish for doing so. From now on Bill Simmons can say whatever he wants about Minnesota basketball and Kahn specifically and I will laugh along with him.

I'm gonna say it now, I'm a huge fan of this guy and I have been for a long time. I know it's easy to not be too enthusiastic due to his age, but he is so perfect for this team it's crazy. It will be funny to look back on the skepticism when Wes "Snipes" Johnson is balling on fools. The prospect of finally having a legitimate wing who can actually shoot is so exciting.

And look at that suit... infinite swagger.

But seriously, the only thing I have qualms with in regards to this draft is the Webster trade, but only because of its salary implications... from a talent standpoint it doesn't bother me at all. Though I wasn't enthralled by Babbitt and am happy we traded him, it's unquestionable that we could've gotten better value for the 16. Despite that I'm not upset because I'm so happy with the Wes Johnson pick and I've been high on him forever. I was praying we wouldn't take Cousins!

Call it blind optimism, call it stupid, but is it any more idiotic than jumping ship and riding on some other team's bandwagon?

I don't think we got better value for the 16 then what we took. Reports were that teams were calling us left and right for #16, so I'm sure this was the best deal. I love Wes Johnson for this team now, he's perfect with Rubio. Him and Flynn are also very good friends, so lets hope Wes makes him better then he showed in his rookie year.

Anybody else think it's a little funny that adding Rudy in order to help entice Rubio was tossed out a few times over throughout the year, and then Kahn drafts two of Flynn's buddies (WJ and Hayward, who's also from upstate New York) and trades for a Portland wing not named Rudy?

The trend I've noticed is everyone who says they like Minnesota gets picked. Rubio is kind of an exception but each of Love, Flynn and now Johnson have gushed about Minnesota pre-draft and have all ended up on the team. All of these also get picked or gotten at the expense of what others consider better players.
