Eh, don't know much about either player, I'm assuming it at least gives us some depth in the backcourt if Douglas or Chandler get dealt...but I don't take much from our picks. I would have preferred big men but it could mean a trade could be brewing for that big or it could mean nothing.

I still love our position. We couldn't be in a better spot for ourselves. I'm sure all those kids complaining how DW traded Hill & the pick/swap option are pretty quiet now, secretly on their knees blessing DW for doing what he did. Had he not, we'd be sitting here with 1 max salary slot and an unwanted player in Jeffries, while Miami has cleared space for 2 and possibly 3 max free agents slots and the Bulls getting into position to possibly free up 2 slots.

But no, Walsh should have held onto those "valuable assets." Some people just don't realize how big this summer really is and Walsh made sure we'd be players with no complications. Thank you DW.

Don't go to the draft thread. People are reacting as if we passed on the next Olajuwon. Amazing. It's ALWAYS been about July 1st, not tonight. We were always going to come away with two decent, unspectacular players. Me, I'm waiting for July 1st. I actually love how ESPN fails to even mention us with regard to cap space. Stuart Scott saying "teams like NJ, Miami, Chicago, all with big cap space." It's gonna be fun when we bide our time and nab Lebron and Bosh. I feel both have always known what they were going to do all along. What can these teams tell them that they don't already know. Everything they say is all PR bullcrap that has to be said. Van Gundy called it a year or so ago, Lebron probably already knows where he is going, and this was back in February 09.

Sorry, can't agree - AT ALL. We'd still control our destiny going forward. If Walsh strikes out here, and he might well with Chicago and Miami going for it, we don't control our picks. We don't control our destiny.

Taking a pure shooter with Rautins means the LeBron plan is still in effect. Clearly a shooter for LeBron to kick out to.

Duetta, your post makes no sense. Are you saying you wish the Knicks had NO shot at the max players in free agency? If Walsh hasn't made the Jeffries/Hill trade, that's exactly what would be happening. I feel we are in more in control now to improve the team than if we had just 1 max slot. Lebron was NEVER coming here along, same with Bosh, etc. Me, I'm tired of all the mediocrity, they need to go for it. I don't get why you think having Hill, Jeffries, and their pick, would be better than a chance to sign Lebron and Bosh/Amare/Johnson. I think people overrate things sometimes...for example, all we heard about the Jazz pick was how awful it was not to have it. It turned out to be Gordon Hayward...a nice player, but really? Let Walsh be patient and pitch NY to these guys, and see what happens. If they do get Lebron and Bosh, I don't think anybody who hated Walsh's moves can say anything, it would be hypocritical.

I respect your opinion, but you can't sit back and not put all your chips on the table for what is 2010 free agency. You just can't. You can't play it safe and not know if not having the ability to sign a 2nd max free agent cost us LeBron. DW played it safe and opened that 2nd max slot last season to guarantee he'd be in the position he's in today, a position teams are desperately trying to get to.

I also don't call one pick and a swap option our destiny. If that's our destiny, we might as well quit now and become Net fans. It's fair to assume that with $35 million in cap space to spend, an intelligent and experienced GM like Walsh will right the ship in one way or another.

All in all, today wasn't a great day for Knick fans, but we didn't do anything to hurt our chances as KnicksGod said. Anyway I'm out for tonight guys. Let's just hope when I log on tomorrow, I'll find some good news :) lol

The Curry trade is where I could say we gave up control of our destiny. Isiah bet the house on Curry, signing him to an albatross contract in which he would never be worth w/o reaching his potential and he gave up 2 unprotected picks in the process. He put the Knicks in salary cap hell, bet on Curry becoming a star and had no control of his picks for 2 years. Walsh has done nothing remotely close to giving up control of our destiny...we're not saddled with an unmovable contract and there's at least some protection on the picks. On top of that, NY is in excellent position to make a play for LeBron/Bosh. This is our destiny my friend.

In addition to Kirk Hinrich & the 17th pick (Kevin Seraphin), Wiz also got $3 million in deal w/CHI. How often do you get paid for a pick? about 1 hour ago via web

the bottom line is, our trump card has been lost as a result of this trade

it is now up to donnie (doubtful given his poor showing tonight) to make a major trade to prop us back up, otherwise, we are a distant 3-4th option for the major FAs
