Kahn on NBA TV.

Post#1 » by Calinks » Fri Jun 25, 2010 4:37 am

Here are some notes from SSUBluesman

SSUBluesman wrote:Says there had been no outbound calls about Al until this week...has a logjam at the big positions...says Wes was the #2 shooter and #2 athlete in the draft...yep forgot about the knee thing, teams were trashing Al's knee and Kahn points out he didn't miss a game from the knee...

asked by Kenny who the best player on team is and Kahn says there is none...looked at getting older players...it's important to get great players and not sure who on the team can be that...says they're going to be active in FA...lots of frustration and wants to turn it around but doesn't want to rush it, wants to do it the right way...talks about an uptempo full-court team being a possible FA attraction...

And from horaceworthy

Missed the first part, here's from when I tuned in.

Kenny asking him who the best player on the team is.

Kahn said there isn't one.

Wants to become an up-tempo team, and tonight speaks to that. Very young team, got younger tonight, even though they took older young players tonight. Says there's still a loooooong way to go and the coming weeks will be about finding a great player.

Kenny asks about whether or not we'll be a player this summer.

Likes the young guys, expect them to be part of the core. Will be very active this summer, may surprise people. This is not a time to lay back. Franchise has struggled, feels sorry for those that have been with the team longer than him and Rambis. Looking to build piece by piece while keeping up tempo in mind.

Steve Smith asks why they'd want to trade Al, given he's an automatic double team.

Kahn says he's not looking to give Al away, with the way Al has improved this summer, may be here the next three years, but it's tough given all the bodies and logjam with bigs and the timeframe for decision making.

Steve asks about when Rubio will come.

Kahn reiterates he expects him here year after this one. Goes on to compliment Rubio every way imaginable. Says secretly glad over Rubio staying in Spain (doesn't know what a secret is I guess).

They ask him to come back at 12:01 when FA starts, if he's not busy.

Says he will be busy, and that this summer in the NBA will be crazy and that FA special will be like the ridiculous tennis match.

Kenny and him start joking around, Kahn says he doesn't care how Kenny is feeling, Kenny puts a curse on the Timberwolves until the day Kahn does care.

Kahn tells Aldridge to give Kenny Kahn's number so they can start texting each other every morning.

Honestly, unless Al is just super thick skinned, I could see him taking offense to alot of this.It sounds like Kahn broke his back trying to deal him. Then again knowing Kahn and how personally he takes things, he may keep Al for the season just to prove to other GM's that they screwed up by not taking him.

That was hilarious.

But I also like that question about Al Jefferson... a guy that might not fit into your running plan, but a guy that demands a double team, and still gets 20/10 why trade a guy like that?

Kahn replied saying thats a good point, and Jefferson won't be traded and might not be traded... unless its on their terms (obviously)

You know, listening to him speak, he does sound like he knows what he's doing. Its just a frustrating draft (right now) but lets just see how it pans out.

NBATV will be re-airing this again quite a bit it seems. My guide says it will re-air constantly until tomorrow at 5. Kahn came on about a half hour through the show and they were talking about WJ right before that. I'm sure I didn't catch all of it, I spaced on teams trashing Al's knee until Calinks pointed it out. There is also the back and forth with Kenny Smith.

Kahn basically said he doesn't care what Kenny thinks. It was funny.

It's just what he said. I missed the first part of the interview, I'm guessing he asked everybody how they're doing aside from Kenny and then pulled the callback at the end of the interview.

End of the interview Kenny said he was doing fine, Kahn said he still doesn't care.

Kenny said he puts a curse on the Timberwolves until the day Kahn does care.

Kahn told Kenny to get his number from Aldridge so they can text every morning.

I got a chuckle out of it.

Haha I just watched that again last week. They should release an updated edition.

any online feed SSU?

I don't see any at this time. They may put it up later though. Looking at their t.v. schedule they don't have anything else on until 3 PM when they re-run the actual draft.

at 2:45 in or so, the wolves fan dude... said he had two sources say that in a post season meeting with the wolves, they said that on the current roster, the wolves have only 1 starting caliber player.... not Jefferson not Love not Flynn... but Darko Milicic.

What?

How sad would it be if the Vikings left town and the Wolves stayed?

What?

That is such BS and COMPLETE disrespect to Big Al and Love. Those guys are going to walk away from us. That's so damn stupid to put Darko over them. Man, that pisses me off.
