Turning our Focus on a PG
I know, I know The Pg situation has been discussed to death, but now that the draft is over and we are clearly keeping George. What do we do now. I realize Bird doesn't always make popular decisions, but I have to believe that he's not going to start the season with only Ford. Aj Price is hurt so I'm not including him. So at the very least we have to sign a min contract PG. But I like to think that we can find a starting PG with the combined assest of:
Troy Muprhy (EXP)
T.J. Ford (EXP)
Mike Dunleavy (EXP)
Jeff Foster (EXP)
Soloon Jones (EXP)
McRoberts (Non-Garunteed)
Erazem Lorbek (Rights to)
Lance Stephenson (Rights to)
Magnum Rolle (Rights to)
Stanko Barac (Rights to)
And possibly either Dahntay Jones or Brandon Rush
Their are a couple of S&T options with players like Raymond Felton, Kyle Lowry, Steve Blake, Randy Foye, Jordan Farmar, Nate Robinson, Will Bynum, Luke Ridnour, Shaun Livingston All of which are free agents.
There's a lot of young PG out there (ie Collison, Lawson, Hill, etc.) but I think without our #10 as an asset we will have a hard time obtaining one of those.
So does anyone have any ideas as to what Pg we can get?

ford counts for nothing because he won't play for us. and aj's non-guaranteed contract might be an extra chip in our stack. i'm sure we can make something happen. but if we trade murphy, we'll now have a hole at PF.

Guys, Hornets fan here.
There was an article today on Nola.com wherein Darren Collison said he was contacted by a reporter last week on a rumor that he was being traded to Indiana. He contacted his agent, who looked into it, and said he was not traded yet.
Long and short of it, Collison basically said he didn't know if he would be a Hornet for long. Just FYI...

I KNOW for a FACT that Im the only person in the world that thinks this, but Im happy with McRoberts at backup PF, and Hansbrough I think can hold down the fort for now as long as hes healthy. JOB also said he wants to play Danny at PF, which Im not a fan of.
Also I didnt include Aj because he wouldnt be able to pass a physical so we cant trade him.

don't want okafor's contract for just collison. it'd have to be cp3. and there is no telling what we have in hansbrough, so pretty dangerous to pencil him in as a starter.

I think the next place to go is the free agent market. I'm not opposed to bringing back Earl Watson. Shaun Livingston is an interesting possibility but, you better have a pretty solid backup plan in place. One thing a free agent knows with us is the opportunity to play is there. That might be pretty appealing to some of the younger guys like Livingston or Farmar.
Signing a couple of cheap free agents risks going over the luxury tax. But I think after the flurry of elite free agent signings competent veterans on expiring contracts will be much more attractive than they are when everyone still thinks they can get an elite guy. Based on that premise Dunleavy, Foster or Murphy might be movable to someone with cap space without taking back significant salary.

We offered Murphy straight up for Jefferson who has a very similar contract as Okafor. So why wouldnt we be willing to do something similar to get okafor and collison? Also eventually Murphy is going to be gone so we will have to rely on Hansbrough eventually.

I lied earl but i was under the assumption he wanted to go to a winning team. I like Shauan as well. I would love to get back Jack to be honest

Fine you can have TJ Ford to replace him.

oh - maybe. just not a big collison fan to be honest. and if he's so good, why shouldn't the hornets trade cp3 instead. clears a ton of cap if you package him with okafor. i don't think we even consider dealing with minnesota from here on out. kahn's a dick.

I am sort of wanting to see Luke Ridnour come to Indy. 10p and 4a in 21.5mpg this season. Shot 38% from 3 and plays with poise.

Ridnour per 36: 17.4ppg, 6.6apg, 2.9rpg, 1spg, and 2.2to
Collison per 36: 16.1ppg, 7.4apg, 3.3rpg, 1.3spg, and 3.4to
Flynn per 36: 16.8ppg, 5.5apg, 2.9rpg, 1.3spg, 3.6to
Collison and Flynn are going to cost us more in the long run to acquire them. Ridnour will cost more this year, but less in the long run.

Just because he's good doesn't mean he has MVP potential the way CP3 does. I'm sure they'd much rather hang onto the face of their franchise and not piss off their fan base.

Dude, didn't you see him in that press conference though? He's unstopable!!!! If he sits at a table like that, just imagine what he can do on the court.
