Thompson
#5
for
Collison
#11
And then we draft Whiteside at 11 (making it more acceptable to trade one of our bigs).
This would be a terrible trade for the KINGS
1st off as an overall player J.THOMPSON is better than COLLISION so why trade down ! Makes no sense at all !
Also you & others who would consider your deal need to realize that solid big men in the NBA are far more valuable than the point guards if for no other reason because a solid floor general (point guard ) is easier to replace than a big man ! We are already stretched really thin as a whole with our power forwards & centers . We need an upgrade not a downgrade !
I want to be clear I believe Collision is really good & would be a big addition to the team but not at the cost of the trade you proposed !
By the way we have 4 small forwards if we were going to do a trade 1 of them would be dealt in a deal reguardless if they were traded wih 1 of our bigs likely NOC but if not GARCIA !
No, he's not. Collison showed more in his rookie year than Jason has in his two years.
And I'd argue that the only thing more valuable than a good PG is a certain type of big--that is, a legitimate center that can be a real post presence on either end. Jason is not this. Jason is a very nice, solid big that can fit in on a lot of teams, but that's basically the extent of his value.
And just to reiterate, the idea here would be that we'd be drafting Whiteside to essentially take Jason's minutes. If we draft a big, we won't have enough minutes for the bigs we do have.
Mith :
WHITESIDE is a good prospect but he is not an upgrade over J.THOMPSON so there is no point to the trade you suggested .
Is WHITESIDE good = yes !
Is he NBA ready to start or even be an immediate player off the bench = NO
So their is no point !
We the KINGS IMO are 2 years maybe 3 years before we become a serious playoffs threat ! Now I am not saying we cant possibly squeeck into the playoffs next season or make it the following who know's right now our roster is not complete etc.
Aside from COUSINS , FAVORS , MONROE & ALDRICH their are not many big men out their that are ready to have a significant impact this year . i want to be clear to you & all I am not saying no one else will be good this year or that they wont contribute but as far as playing a significant role to their team next year the 4 I mentioned are likely to be the only big men in the draft who will have a chance to be a real factor next season.
Again i like COLLISON also but not at the deal you want to do
by the way JASON needs to stop complaining to the reefs so much & mature , he needs to add about 20 pounds more of bulk & be a little bit more consistant once he does these things he will emerge as a bigtime player . He already has proven he can rebound , score , he hustles , has alot of heart & energy , he's a team player etc. It is not the time to give up on JASON at all . If you do you better get alot better value !
