Suns thoughts on David Griffin?
Apparently David Griffin is high on the Blazers list of candidates to be their new GM. Can you guys give us Blazer fans any insight at all on him?

He is a great guy. I wish we could have kept him (more than Kerr). He started off as a ball-boy and worked his way up in the Suns organization. Alot of what Kerr took credit for (Dragic/Lopez and the Jrich/Dudley trade) came from Griff.
You guys would be lucky to get him.

Nice guy but horrible talent evaluator, the Blazers seem to have good scouts/other front office personell so I wouldn't worry about that...

Well let's see what Dave Griffin played a big part in
Zarko, Jackson Vroman, Signing Marcus Banks and Doris Meow, Tucker, Lopez, overpaying for a backup in Dragic...
I'm sure there's more

You're crazy man
ignore this guy blazers fans. Griffin is widely regarded as one of the best scouts in the business, he's a people person, a cba wiz, and all in all has a great knowledge for the intricacies of the NBA and the business side
will be a great pickup for whoever gets him

Well I'm in the Phx metro area so why would I root for another team?

Pointing out mistakes doesn't make someone not a fan, no point in sugarcoating it, better to face the reality of something

It's easy to ignore something you don't want to hear...just like I'm sure people ignore Marcus Banks and Diaw's contracts in which Griffin played a big part of.

Re: Suns thoughts on David Griffin?
The Blazers have some pretty good scouts/talent evaluators who signed 2 year extensions before Pritchard got canned, so they should be fine there.
I guess the thing I'm most worried about is if he's got the stones to make big trades. That was my biggest complaint against Pritchard. He overpriced his own players and asked for so much from other teams that it seemed to hamper his ability to make trades, then he would get too attached to his own players.

Re: Suns thoughts on David Griffin?
Griffin much like every talebt evaluator got some stuff right and some stuff wrong. Mary seems to forget that lopez made the suns play bully ball. mary seems to forget that Goran took over the 4th quarter of game 3 IN THE PLAYOFFS VS THE 4TH QUARTER!, Mary seem to forget that he also had a hand in the dudley trade, j-rich trade, and drafting on amare. DIaw helped the suns when AMare went out- its seems mary forgot about that too. Like I said every talent evaluator has been wrong. I think Griff is a pretty good GM candidate.

gut check time suckas!

Disagree
Lopez is a 7 footer that can't rebound drafted over much more athletic bigs with way more potential
Dragic as a second round pick is "ok", the price they paid for him makes it a bad trade though, at best he's a backup point guard, no way can he compete with the other starting point guards in the NBA, just to athletic and much stronger than him.
The J-Rich trade was good, Lawal is going to be a player but that could change if they overpay the pillsbury doughboy when he wants a contract extention

Re: Suns thoughts on David Griffin?
Every GM is going to have hits and misses when it comes to drafting and trades. That doesn't necessarily concern me a ton. Like I said before, I'm biggest concern is his ability to make trades, but I don't know how well you guys will be able to tell about that.

Absolutely no need for this. Don't attack other posters. You did it multiple times yesterday, so consider this your first warning--rsavaj

I'd rather berate him. He gets quoted too much for ignore to be worth while

why dont u use examples MVF? more potential doesnt mean a better player! so ur claiming to be a better talent evaluator than Griff? I would rather trust Nash when he says he is the PG of the future! than you. Lawal will be with the team whether or not Amare gets back!! he is a replacement for LOU!

I don't know what's more funny, the fact that you're concerned about what some guy types online or the fact that you think I care about what you say

I used examples before but for the last part, that's why there are good GM's and bad GM's in the league, some are just better talent evaluators than others. Some like to play it safe while others take risks, for a team with aging players and not much talent they should be taking risks.
