Magic fan here, and I was just wondering if there was any way of acquiring Iggy while taking that BRUTAL contract of Brands off your hands.
Vince Carter (expiring 16 mill)
Mickael Pietrus (very good defender and can stroke the 3 ball)
Brandon Bass (good young PF who in the right system could really be a SOLID player)
Gortat (just dying to prove himself in a starting role for somebody & you guys could use a big)
=roughly 32 million dollars
for
Iggy (guys just got Turner who looks like he will be your new play maker)
Brand (Speights is waiting in Brands wings and waiting to play while we also would ship you guys Bass)
Kapono (could be a good player for ORL due to his 3pt success)
=roughly 32 million dollars
Just trying to get a gauge on what you guys think, because there are rumors that Otis Smith (Magic GM) is calling any and everyone that will listen about acquiring a top flight player and I would love to have a guy like Iggy or (Rudy Gay which is why I have also posted this on the Grizzlies boards).

Re: Iggy & Brand Question?
Yeah, this has been discussed before on the trade board. With Gortat instead of Pietrus, though. I like it but since Vince is of no use to us he should be sent to a 3rd team for a matching expiring and maybe some added value.

Re: Iggy & Brand Question?
I'd do that trade in a heartbeat but I don't think Otis Smith is stupid enough to take Brand's horrible contract.
Gortat may be slightly overpaid but his contract is much better than Brand and Iggy's combined. This would allow the Sixers to acquire solid role players and bolster their frontcourt depth while adding more cap space.
I don't see how this trade would benefit the Magic.

Re: Iggy & Brand Question?
Collins/Stefanski have this INSANE hard on for what amounts to a roleplayer. Your going to be severely disappointed if you think Iguodala is a top-flight player.
The truth is, there's no difference between him and Matt Barnes. Actually, I take that back. Barnes has shown a nice 3 ball and scoring skills. If you did what the Sixers did(Iguodala isolation ad nauseum) with Barnes, I'd assume you'd find a nice player. Hell, he was featured in GSW's freestyle offense to success.
Iguodala doesn't fit you at all. He doesn't have the 3 ball, he isn't really that good in the half-court. Surprisingly very effective from mid-range, but he loves the 3 ball. Loves to take it. But really can't hit it.
Iguodala's offense comes isolation ad nauseum, attacking the bucket and hopefully getting to the FT line and the fast break. To put it simply, in a system like Orlando. Not really. All of his weaknesses would be exposed in Orlando.
Brand on the other hand, has shown some things. Must work on rebounding and being tougher defensively. I think if he's healthy, he gives you a body against KG. And would definately help you.
I'd take this package in a heartbeat

Re: Iggy & Brand Question?
Thats the thing dedicated 76ers fan, we dont need a 3 point shooter. We need a guy EXACTLY like Iggy who can make plays for others and get to the rim whenever he wants. That's what we thought VC was going to do but we were a few yrs to late.
Iggy wouldnt have to be our number one option because of Dwight, Shard, and Meer, but he would help us out A TON by getting to the rim and playing defense on guys like Lebron, Wade, Pierce etc etc.
Plus Brand, like you said could be a body to throw at guys like KG and Pau. He can also score the ball on the low post and hit the mid range every now and then.

I would do that trade. The Sixers could get a lottery pick next year, trade VC's expiring for a contract expiring next year and an asset (Pritchard move), and start a nice rebuild.

Re: Iggy & Brand Question?
I think you would intice the Sixers in a deal like the one you purposed, except I don't see Stefanski giving up Brand. I would say Collins likes Brand more then Iguodala. And rightfully so, Brand has shown some signs of life and a healthy Brand is simply better then Iguodala.
If what your looking for is 13-14 PPG, 6 rpg, 6 APG with good solid defense, that's exactly what your going to get. And for a title contender like yourselves, that may be worth it.
We do need depth up-front, which is another reason I don't see us giving up Brand.

I think we accept Gortat-Bass in a heart-beat. I can't say I love Gortat's contract. But if his per 48 speaks some relevence of truth, I'd like to see 1.5 BPG outta him. 1.5 BPG and 8 rebounds is all I ask, as he and Hawes are our main cogs at the 5 for the next decade.
I like Bass next to Speights too. If Hawes doesn't impress , we could play Bass and Speights together. I like Bass as a rebounder, enforcer.
Granted, this will probably be locked, so we'll have to continue discussions in the Fantasy Trade Thread. It's normally one of the top threads so you should see it.

Noonskadoodle, please don't think that Dedicated is a representation of the majority of 76ers fans. Some of the things he says
are just ridiculous.
I would probably do the trade you proposed, and so would Stefanski.

Didnt see it locked so figured I would keep responding in here.
You really dont think your front office would like to get rid of Brands contract and just go with a Speights and Bass at PF for half the price? I thought for sure thats what you guys were trying to do.
I would still take the trade you posted and I honestly really do think its a WIN-WIN for both sides. Like you said you get depth in the front court and a solid role player in Pietrus. We get a slasher who can get to the rim/ft line and hit that mid range shot with consistency, and he also has solid defense. Hopefully talks start heating up between our 2 teams

hahaha

So you also believe your front office def wants to get that Brand contract off their hands? I thought for sure you guys would want too and I really do believe this is a good trade for both sides as I stated in previous post.
