Adelman loves Taylor

Post#1 » by Aaron Brooks » Sat Jun 26, 2010 1:05 am

Rileydog over at clutchfans posted a recap of the post draft luncheon the Rockets held for season ticket holders

- Rusty Hardin asked about Taylor. DM said Adelman loves taylor and wants to get him on the court. Adelman thinks Taylor can be a starter, just needs minutes. This discussion was part of the talk about a crowded/deep roster and it's hard to get minutes.

I think Taylor was getting slept on by a lot of fans because he didn't play much. This guy improved his defense tremendously over the course of the season, do you guys remember the game against LA when he gave Kobe trouble? He was also at Toyota center during the playoffs working out. Hopefully he'll have a left hand by next season.

Rest of the recap here http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=188392

Yeah, he fell off of my radar. It's impressive the amount of young talent Morey has managed to acquire.

I really wish that the NBA would modify the D-League association rules where we could stash some of these players there and, you know...DEVELOP them without them taking up an active roster spot.

Of course, I'm not thinking that Taylor is starting next season in McAllen. I'm really hoping he's on the roster, if not in the rotation.

Rockets have K.Martin, S.Battier, T.Ariza, C.Budinger, J.Taylor and Brooks/Lowry (when both are on the court) for SG/SF positions, 96 mins. 6,7 players for 96 min is tough to manage. But knowing rockets there will be injuries and there is possibility that one or two of these 6,7 players will be traded.

By the way, the trade partner tend to like a combination of Battier/Ariza/Budinger/Brooks/ Lowry + picks. Taylor might be the one least requested by trade partner due to the low profile in last season.

We'll know the worm has turned if Adelman suddenly starts giving Taylor 5-8 minutes/game.

(Of course, that might mean they're trading Martin.....So ignore me.)

i never doubted taylor. in an interview last offseason he said pretty boldly that "scoring is what i do, that's what ima do in this league". showed he can play at the end of last season. its good to have a normal sized sg. if the roster stays the same, he'll barely get any pt. but one way he can is if cbud splits minutes w/ him. coach see's if either is better or they're both the same. could use taylor for small ball. then after this season, maybe shane becomes a 15min player, then taylor can get more pt.

if shane regresses this or next season, taylor should get mroe minutes.

brooks/lowry
martin/cbud/taylor
ariza/shane

such a great wing rotation. i'll never get tired of looking at that. after this season have taylor backup 2 and bud backup 3, shane gets spot minutes but definitely still plays
what'd be great is if taylor developed some point guard skills, not huge, but enough to play the point for a few min, if our pgs get in foul trouble or w/e, or for bigger lineups. wishful thinking but ya, cant wait for next season to start.

Considering its a PR event with season ticket holders, what'd you expect Morey to say? Taylor is a bum, he has no future in this league?

Action speaks louder than words, until i see Taylor contribute on the court i'm not going to take anything Morey says seriously. Lying is part of his job..... nay. Lying IS his job.

The question here is, does Adelman love him more than our other wings, Battier, Ariza, Martin, and Budinger. I like Taylor as much as the next guy, but I don't see the instance he should really be getting minutes over those guys (and as Teckon noted, we played a lot of Brooks and Lowry at the same time as well).

taylor has to prove himself to be ahead of shane, ariza, and martin. budinger too tho may not be that hard. im fine w/ taylor getting few minutes, but we should definitely develop him or something, after this season play him more and shane less.

Speaking of draft measurements.

Chuck Hayes has a higher 'No Step Vert' than Bud, Ariza and Patterson. Chuck also was the second fastest Rocket in the 'Lane Agility' drill only behind Brooks. Chuck also has a higher 'Max Vert' than Ariza and most importantly Chuck is 6-7, not 6-6!

Chuck Hayes is the leader of the Autobots. That alone is a reason to keep him on the team!

we should never leave hayes. he's in his effing prime right now, he showed he can be productive if the situation calls for it. even when he's old, keep him, since this team loves its undersized bigs, we gotta keep him.
