If Avery is serious about his desire to improve our team defense, then Favors should get the burn over Yi...

We get Lebron...we will absolutely land one more guy. That you should count on.

I don't disagree, but I don't necessarily think it'll be a PF.

Honestly, if I was part of the Nets brass, I'd be using Dwight Howard as an example every single time I talk to Lebron. The measurements and the comparisons are already there. Now you just have to plant the seed.

"Hey Lebron, I know playing with a rookie PF doesn't sound too appealing to you. But listen, when the Magic drafted Dwight Howard over Emeka Okafor, Tracy McGrady saw it as the team rebuilding and not being interested in winning now. He decided he wanted to leave, the Magic obliged and traded him to Houston. Instead, Dwight becomes an immediate force, and could have blossomed even more with the presence of Tracy instead of Steve Francis. "

Ideally, for me, I'd rather we keep Favors and find a suitor for Devin instead (partly because Devin's salary makes it easier for us to find that 2nd max guy) and partly because I don't think Devin and Lebron would be a great fit. Whereas, I think Lebron is exactly the type of player that Favors needs to cover up for his offensive deficiencies early on his career.

That being said, I wonder what Sam Mitchell's relationship is with Bosh. I've heard some reports say Bosh credits him for his development, but I can't really remember. If that's true, then I think we might be able to pull this off....mainly because of one thing we have that the other teams don't have: Brook Lopez.

Chris Bosh has stated that he doesn't want to play center, he wants to play PF. Sure, while Chicago can say that they have Noah, he's really not a true center either, and will more than likely alternate with Chris in their roles of who plays center.

Here in NJ, he's absolutely, strictly a PF....because Brook is firmly entrenched at that Center spot.

All makes sense. And I agree on most of it. However, i would prefer to dump Lee, Hump and Dooling and keep Devin for now. Trade him when and hif its from strength.
Like...sign the big man....where supply and demand favor bigs this summer over any other position.

I have a feeling the situation in NO is going ot get worse for Paul not better once the dust settles in free agency. I am sure if we land a top flight PF...and Favors/Devin lands us Paul as a third big in a trade LATER....you woulsnt have an objection that that, right?

I am just saying...would prefer to slary dump the least valuable players ON THE COURT first.

Oh absolutely, would not be opposed to a deal for Paul at all. For me though, it's the exact opposite. I'd like to make sure we get James + whoever he wants to bring with him first. And seeing as I don't think Yi + Hump will be a great package that most teams would want, I see Devin as the more attractive package due to his combination of talent + good contract.

Yes...in an S&T deal. But, in a straing signing...cap wise we can get there by either dumping Devin pr Yi+Hump+Dooling. Dooling is easy. Hunp shouldt be hard...either he opts out or give a 2nd rounder, Hump and cash...for his one year 3.2 remaining to make him go away. So it comes down to Yi.

In that scenario? I would prefer to make the cap room for Lebron to brng the guy he wants. It will be a 2 or a 4. Either way...great!

then you still have Devin and Favors....why not look for Paul or whoever later? We absolutely could give lebron TWO superstar support guys...and that is before we even get to how great Brook is going to be.

Now, to be fair, DeMarcus has been a far superior defender, a far more selfless player (can you picture Zach willing to be the 4th option in Kentucky?), and his contributions clearly made the Wildcats a more difficult team to beat. He and Zach are nothing alike in those respects. DC's wingspan, lateral quickness and focus on the defensive end should make him at least an above-average versatile defender. They are similar in terms of offensive rebounding ability and conditioning, but that's about as far as the comparison goes.

Now, in terms of "attitude" or a general demeanor, then yes, they are both surly and egocentric. But isn't that also why we traded for Damion James? I've been a Big XII fan as long as I can remember, and although I love Damion's work ethic, he's an @ssclown as far as sportsmanship and camaraderie go, worse than everyone's opinion of Cousins.

I have to agree with you that I would be loathe to even watch our Nets with the wanna-be thug, no-defense, offensive black hole better known as Zach Randolph on our squad. But anyway, I don't think Avery would OK that deal.
Plus old Zeke might go to jail.

Well, Yi gone...now it's just Humph. We have EIGHT picks in the next two drafts. Get it done Thorn, find a taker for Humph and well, we'll be over the hump!
