Ryan Wittman- A shooter this team needs

Post#1 » by return2glory » Mon Jun 28, 2010 1:09 am

Ryan Wittman was one of the best shooters in the country. Our need needs more shooter. He has a quick release and range. He kind of reminds me of Kyle Korver and Jason Kapono. I'm glad he is on our summer league team and I think he has a chance of making this team.

He's got a pure stroke, and looks to have decent athleticism. I wouldn't be greatly surprised if he made the team.

He has a nice shot. He could be the next kyle korver but it will be a year or two.

The kid has a sweet shot and from his interviews, he's an intelligent and poised player. I'd love to see him get a chance.

Wittman looked FANTASTIC in the NCAAs until Cornell went up against an athletic team in UK that was focused on stopping him. And stop him they did. While against Temple and Wisconsin (two great defensive teams in their own right) he was able to get off any shot he wanted, he couldn't do anything against Kentucky.

Of course in the NBA, no team is going to focus on stopping Wittman, like UK did. But you wonder whether he's quick and/or strong enough to free himself for shots, which he has do in light of his inability to create for himself. I guess best case scenario is a slightly taller Redick, which is pretty good.

I like the signing, especially as a Cornell alum. Summer league invites are like lotto tickets. You don't expect to win anything but once in a while you get a nice surprise.

And as someone commented on YouTube, he's better than Rautins. I have no idea what Walsh was thinking with that pick.

a taller better shooting redick for cheaper money...unless this kid falls apart in summer league this is a good pick up...To me this is closer to a lock on our roster than anyone playing in the summer league....

Redick's lateral quickness is one thing that surprised a lot of people once he got to the league. Everyone knows he can shoot, but he is not a major liability on defense and that's what a lot of people were terrified of.

Wittman honestly looked like an early second round offensive talent when I saw him in the NCAA tourney. He must be horrible on defense and have horrendous athleticism.

his per is 21.84 and while showing good positional defense and being vocal on that end of the court as well. His athletic limitations certainly will hurt him on the defensive end in the NBA, but he appears to be a player coaches will love.

From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Rya ... z0sB4Av3cl

Also played in the PIT his team won all three games and was forced to guard the pf spot so that show's toughness and was voted in all third team.
Either way though he still will have to prove worthy I will be watching his stats fo sho in the early games.

http://ryanwittmanfacts.com/ also thought this was f-ing funny stuff..
