Can the Nets Sign two MAX Guys?

With Dooling being Cut, can the Nets Sign Two?

With Lopez, Harris, Favors, Yi, Williams, Lee, and Damon James. If the Nets can sign two MAX guys like Wade and LBJ! WOW That team would be better than The Bulls getting LeBron and Bosh!

No, the Nets still would need to shed a few contracts in order to get up to two max territory. Unless Thorn has some late magic, I don't think we're getting there.

If Chicago was able to move Hinrich.. I'm sure we can move Yi and/or Humphries.

Hence the late magic comment. Late meaning in the process, not late as in we've tried and failed. :D

This move currently can give us up to $27,559,248 in cap space so far if the cap come sin at the projected 56.1 mil. (Counting one less cap hold than we have since you release one with the first big signing)

If Hump opts out or we can deal him without taking back salary, that would give us up to $30,285,644 (factoring in the additonal cap hold dumping Hump). its going to take 33.6mil in space....dont forget for each guy we move out...we need an extra $473,604 for an addtional cap hold. If we can trade Yi without taking back salary on top of Hump...that gets us to $33,862,540. The only other player on the roster who can get us there is Devin Harris.

So? We want Hump out, no brainer and it shouldnt be too hard as I see it since he only has one year and 3.2 mil owed. at worst...give 3mil in cash and a second rounder, good bye. From there...Yi or Devin is what we are most likely working on right now if we are dumping. Or we could make a big trade to add talent and improve the roster, use up all the extra cap room down to the 16.8 mil for Lebron.

These are the options.

YES WE CAN!*

It would be difficult to land two max FAs outright (as in no S&T), but we may be in a better position by NOT dumping Yi. After all, he could be a desirable backup PF with size and shooting touch in Atlanta, if Joe Johnson made it clear he didn't want to sign there. We can put together an attractive S&T package if we wanted, although personally I'd rather not "dump" anyone but Kris (if he doesn't opt out), Yi or Devin (IF we get a young, cheap lead guard in return).

How about a trade with Sacramento:

Lee
Humphries

for

Cap space

Nets get the cap space they want and free up time for T.Will
Kings get the backcourt player they need.

^Still wouldn't be enough for another max slot. So, to lose Lee just to get rid of Humphries isn't smart in my opinion.

Yeah we actually HAVE to get YI/Hump's contracts off the book. Besides that, the only other way we can clear the space without gutting our roster as bad as Miami/New York are doing would be to move Devin for pure cap space.

I really do believe we can find a team who would take Yi/Hump/2nd rounder (or two)/Cash for cap space. We'll see if Thorn has any magic left in the tank.

Signing two max FAs OUTRIGHT is totally different than signing them. I think we are in a fine positon to land one max FA (hopefully LeBron) outright, and another with an S&T. Will it cost us T-Will and Yi? Yeah, it might, But it can be done, and we are in a fine position for it.
