Chris Sheridan: Lakers Could Pursue Ridnour With ML

Post#1 » by europa » Mon Jun 28, 2010 7:38 pm

No surprise the Lakers could go after Ridnour but for the ML? If that's what they want to pay the Bucks need to bow out. If they're thinking of offering him that much, they must not think Fisher is coming back.

From Sheridan's chat today:

Moe (Char, NC)

Any ideas on a what point guard The lakers will go after? Your thoughts on Collesion, Jamer Nelson, very very long shot of CP3. I think they"ll stick with Bynum so only move I see them makign is at the point. Whats your thoughts?
Chris Sheridan (3:36 PM)

Steve Blake or Luke Ridnour with the MLE.

IT doesn't necessarily mean the full MLE. They may need to use a portion of it for Shannon Brown.
Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.

True but the impression I got was Sheridan thinks they'll pay the ML for Blake or Ridnour. If Fisher leaves, that wouldn't surprise me because they will need a starter and both of those guys are very good fits for that offense. I'm not sure too many teams will be willing to offer Ridnour a starting job but the Lakers might be one of the few who could. And money won't be an object for them. We know that.

I really want Ridnour back because he seems to fit in with the team so well and I was very impressed with his toughness down the stretch and what he brought to our team.

If the Lakers are going to offer him the full ML I will wish him well and let him walk and be a starter, there is no way we can afford to pay him that.

The hold Shannon Brown's rights so it wouldn't cut into any MLE.

I don't think sheridan was really prepared to answer the question. i think he just came up with a couple of names off the top of his head. i doubt fisher is leaving. but the lakers may be looking for a back-up pg. Ridnour could fill that need.

paying him the ML ? I doubt highly they'd offer him that much. How much did Artest get? i know he took less just to play for the lakers. he'll probably be knocking on the door asking for a new contract.

Seriously - looking at the lakers, what move would you see them making ? a move at SG? NO! PF? NO. C? no. SF? no. pg ? Fisher is getting old. soooooooooooooo... the only move i could see the lakers making is at PG.

man, i should be a basketball analysist. it's a real tough job. What moves should the knicks make? i think they should sign Lebron and bosh and do a sign and trade for Wade. boy, i' m a basketball genius.

I never really thought of the Lakers as a possible suitor for Ridnour, but that makes a lot of sense, he'd be really good in that role.

I'd be curious to know how many years they'd offer him, that might be as big of a determining factor as the dollar amount. Anything more than 2 or 3 years, enjoy LA Ridnour!

My mistake. The Lakers have early Bird rights on Brown, so they wouldn't have to use the MLE to re-sign him. They used their BAE last year to sign him.

No use in paying the full MLE for non-starters, unless they are very high quality players that can play two positions well (Kirk Hinrich from a couple years ago is probaby worth the MLE, for example, his current contract is gross) and garner 25+ minutes per game. For a guy that is strictly a backup 1, time to look elsewhere.

If the Bucks want Ridnour, they need to hope the Lakers sign Blake. I don't see Blake coming back to Milwaukee to be a backup to Jennings.

Whoever we sign just needs to shoot the hell out of the ball when open, keep it moving when not, and limit turnovers as much as possible.

He'd be great if he can keep his 3pt% where they've been the past 2 years. We basically need Derek Fisher circa any Finals game he's ever played IMO.

I highly doubt Blake would even be considered.

There is no chance Blake comes back here, I can say that with very good confidence based on some stuff :P

inc B Dub to complain about me being vague about inside information/sources.

My guess is that it has more to do with Farmar than it does Fish.
