Not allowed according to Larry Coon's CBA FAQ:
Under no circumstances can a team sign and then trade another team's free agent.
...
In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:
...
For three months or until December 15th of that season (whichever is later) after signing a contract as a free agent.

The key word in my post was sign "their" free agent. When you sign your own free agent it is just a sign and trade.

Ok, gotcha. I read it as some other team could sign the free agent you want and send him to you as a sign & trade. My bad.

No to Brad Miller and Nesterovic!!!!! Another white guy that cant jump or defend to a roster full of them. Thats a pretty weak list of washed up veterans bigs. I would those minutes go to Kosta.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I was always a huge JO fanboy, but he looked pretty bad towards the end there...and I doubt he's interested in playing just a few minutes for just a few bucks behind Okur.

(That said I also doubt he stays in Miami if Bosh goes there...the Raptors proved that combo doesn't work.)

That is a great point that I haven't thought about before. Although they didn't have D-Wade or really anyone else when they first tried that.

Man I wish we could somehow pry him away. Never gonna happen. I'm gonna go be sad now.

Exactly my thoughts. But still, it may depend on CHI's dealings this offseason. I just wish they burden themselves with big contracts that'll put them in a position where they can't match a huge offer for Noah. But then again, Chicago is one of the better markets that can take on the luxury tax. For the Jazz's part, payroll for next season is at $33M (maybe around 40 once Wes, Fes and Hayward sign their contracts, and Boozer walks), so they probably have $16-23 M. That's a lot of money to work with next summer. A front-loaded offer might do it.

If Noah can't be had, I hope the Jazz make a run for Horford, Marc Gasol or even Oden.

If the Free Agent list on RealGM is not screwed up, then all three of theses are RFAs in the summer of 2010.

Maybe we should wait until Joe Johnson signs a max deal with Atlanta, and then make an offer for Hoford that Atlanta can't match.

I would love to get Gasol, but he is probally the player that Memphis is least likely to deal. They were useing him as and example during the regular season to show that they didn't get that screwed by the Lakers in the Pau trade.
