We really should get a future pick if we have to take Johnson. Either that or Gibson. I know Chicago likes him, but moving him is the final step to give them max cap space.

no position and athletic but not skilled. i assume he has a low bball iq as well cause it's sounding like a standard EG special.
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

I agree that moving Johnson is more important to the Bulls than a positive for the Wizards getting him so the Bulls need to kick in another asset. Even then I'm not excited about adding him. I think the Bulls would be totally against including Gibson. A future first round pick wouldn't be bad. I don't know what to think about Johnson. He seems to be a tweener, between 3 and 4. He has good physical tools. If he were more of a pure 3, then I would be more interested, but I think he would be fighting with Trevor Booker for minutes.

I am similarly ambivalent about the prospect of adding Johnson. Not necessarily because I'd expect that the Wizards could do much better with the roster spot and financial commitment that he'd require but, like you're saying Ben, he's not the sexiest prospect for a guy the Bulls really need to unload. The Bulls are in a position where they may feel they have to make a deal and I definitely don't feel that Washington needs to get themselves some James Johnson.
Gibson is definitely a worthwhile player and would complement Blatche well but I wouldn't mind swapping Gibson for Omer Asik if Chicago was especially reluctant to let Gibson go. Asik strikes me as exactly the sort of European big guy who you can trust to be a worthwhile NBA player.

^^^ I like the idea of Asik as the price for taking Johnson. The Bulls traded three second round picks for him. His dream apparently is to play in the NBA. I don't know what his buyout situation is or what he would command for salary. He supposedly is a good defensive player with decent length (7-0 tall, 7-2 wingspan, 9-4 reach). I don't know how he would fit in with McGee, Seraphin, and to a lesser extent N'diaye, but it's an interesting idea.

I know he was the 16th pick in the 2009 draft, but should we actually get excited about this? I don't want to be debbie downer, but I he had a pretty pathetic rookie season. His per was 10.4, he doesn't have a position and can't guard either forward spot. He seems like the forward version of Javaris Crittenton. Really athletic, but not really skilled and both had poor rookie seasons after being drafted in the mid first.
James Johnson, is the son of a sixth-degree black belt. His dad won five world titles. James is a black belt himself. Apparently, he's a better martial artist than basketball player.
Johnson carries that fighter's confidence onto the basketball court, where, he says, "I know nobody can beat me up, so there's never reason to be scared."

Seems to me, the Wizards might have one tough guy too many if they add Johnson. Poor McGee, if they added each of Booker, Seraphin, and Johnson to the team.
Honestly, I don't think you want too many of the same type players as rookies/second year players.

+1 Johnson was someone who I thought would make a good pro, but he has proved to be a big disappointment so-far.

It doesn't matter. Getting him means more competition in camp. Getting him for nothing certainly doesn't hurt.

If nothing else he can guard LeBron James and put 6 fouls to good use

The 2 problems with Johnson that I know of are - he was wayyy out of shape last year, and - like seemingly all WF players - a mediocre or worse jump shot. I thought he decent form on his jumper (despite some horrible bricks), so I spect that's something - just like his weight - that can be fixed. He's a natural scorer with a lot of raw ability.

Especially if they put together a gutter-ball tank squad with no scorers. "A poor man's" hybrid of Jim Kelly and Al Harrinton isn't a bad piece to have.
No, not that Jim Kelly, this Jim Kelly.....

We don't want Johnson. I was at Wake when he was there, and the dude claimed he was majoring in "pre-NBA" (funny, but just showed he wasn't there for the team...and it was obvious at times). He led the team (along with Jeff Teague) that lost to Cleveland St in the first round of the tournament as a 3 or 4 seed. He feel out of shape, can't man up power forwards or guard the perimeter, and I'm pretty sure he was in the doghouse a lot last year. The dude has all of the tools and can shoot (4/5 from 3 in that tournament game), but I just don't trust his work ethic and we're trying to avoid that these days.

Nothing about Johnson particularly excites me. But the guy was a first rounder just a year ago, and may have some value around the league. Maybe he's a small chip in a deadline deal or maybe we flip him for a second rounder or something.
His rumored inclusion in the Hinrich deal confirms my suspicion from draft night that we didn't know the full details of the deal, and we obviously still don't. Hopefully we wrangled a future pick or two or Asik out of them too.

Well, if there are legitimate character concerns then we'd be wise to steer clear. I can't really speak to that, though an 'accidental' Bruce Bowen style Jump kick would be a priceless moment.

We may need to sign Bolo Yeung as a 12th man.

He'll blow that chalk dust right back into LeBron's face.

Yeah I think we grab johnson if we can. Bulls won't need him if they get lebron and deng is going to be a backup.

If they want to move Johnson for nothing, wouldn't we just take him? Is it possible that he's in the Hinrich deal? Were that the case, I doubt we would have chosen Booker, but it still seems plausible.
Johnson was pretty poor offensively last year, but was a solid defender at both forward spots, from what I can tell.

It is. But it's also means socially awkward or tactless act. I think another word that relates is gaucherie. I think there's a song that goes something like "forgive my gaucherie" Maybe being a leftist is socially improper.
Anyway I'm just hear browsing knowing full well we hear nothing till july 1st or 8th, and still we are here.
