I would disagree in that BJ backup doesn't need to be a true point. Maybe Lukes roll on the floor involved making shots but that is only because we were so very pathetic making shots! I know Skiles is the coach but I still believe, especially this season, BJ needs a solid mentor backing him up at the 1. He will have difficulties and a playing mentor will be very important for him this year. I want a guy that is a true 1 not some combo guard that dribbles down the floor and passes to a wing, if he doesn't have an open look. I'm of the opinion that BJ will have significant struggles this year and having a capable true point guard backing him up and mentoring him is essential. Just my 2 cents.

What about Jordan Farmar if we lose Ridnour? He's still only 23 and has been a pretty good player for the Lakers. He has shot 37% from three the last 2 years, and can hold his own defensively. I think I like him better than Earl Watson or Keyon Dooling.

If Farmer leaves LA, it's because he wants a starting gig or significantly increased playing time, neither of which we can offer him.

I'd love Farmar... I just don't see he coming to Milwaukee to back up Jennings.

A lot of people expect next season to go a lot like this past season in regards to Jennings playing time, or in other words, Skiles coaching decisions to bench him for long stretches for his reasons.

I just personally don't see it happening that much this year. It will happen occassionally because that's how Skiles coaches but Jennings is gonna get better moving forward, he's gonna make less mistakes, and Skiles is gonna trust him more.

People are still in the mindset that were gonna have a backup PG who plays a lot of minutes behind Jennings and even next to him but with better guard play this coming season and an improved Jennings, the backup points only gonna play 13-15mpg. My point is paying Ridnour any more than $3 mil per is gonna be a waste for a backup whose gonna get spot minutes as BJ gets better.

Actually, I see most people readily acknowledging Jennings significant PT next season.

If LA signs Ridnour, wouldn't that make Farmar expendable?

Yes, depending on how long you think Fisher's going to play.

The more salient point is probably that it would make Farmar less likely to want to stay in L.A., but obviously he would have no more reason to want to come to Milwaukee. He wants to start.

I don't think LA wants him back. We will see in the next couple days if he is tendered a QO by the Lakers. If not he is unrestricted and unlikely to return to the Lakers. He would be looking for a team with a system that takes better advantage of his skills than the triangle does. Not sure he would like the minutes he would get with the Bucks for him to sign a contract with them since it is very unlikely he beats out Jennings for the starting PG job.
Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.

Quite the understatement there.

Can't remember how his D is, but big body that is solid from 3. Don't think he's that good at running an offense either.

I remember Randy Foye being pretty bad the last few times we faced him. Not sure I'm very interested there.

He hasn't been all that good. I'm not a huge fan but if the options are limited I'd consider him. He should come cheap.

Maybe saying 'a lot of people' is overstated on my part. But I have heard quite a few people on here, on the radio, and out and about that think keeping Ridnour is more important than Salmons, and they have talked about even giving him the MLE to stay. He will probably be the 9th or 10th man in terms of minuts unless Jennings gets hurt so I just thing spending more than $3 is a waste. All I was saying.

I've seen a few people saying Ridnour is more important than Salmons. I find those comments laughable as well.

I just want to be sure that my concern for a true 1 to backup BJ is less about PT in games and more about practice times. I still believe BJ will struggle at points/situations in games but the best way to minimize those is in practice against a quality 1. Again just my 2 cents.

Foye would be intriguing. You could imagine visions of Billups dancing in Hammond's head. I don't think he was ever as good a prospect as Billups, but all we would need him to be is the lesser, quality-backup version of Billups, not the actual Finals MVP Billups.
