As is common when talking about a player's pending free agency, people tend to fall back on the notions that a player is going to leave their current team because that player wants a starting job and more money.

It is important to always remember that there are only 30 starting spots for each position on the floor and being able to make more money elsewhere is far, far from the lock that it is made out to be sometimes.

Anyway, carry on :)

I think we can safely assume Ridnour is going to take a pay cut next season. I agree his chances for a starting job are slim. I think the Lakers - if Fisher leaves - might be his only shot.

It's all about perception. "Where might I be able to compete for a starting job?' I think you could have that perception in LA with an aging Fisher, or on numerous other teams in the league who aren't fully committed to whichever starter. We have that kind of a situation here at PF. Somebody could sign with us (not suggesting anyone will) under the presumption that we don't have an established starter, and therefore there's an opportunity to compete. I don't think anybody would delude themselves into thinking they'd have a chance to start here at PG.

That said, I don't think anybody is considering it a lock that Ridnour or Farmar will get that kind of opportunity, though I think Farmar is likely to prioritize it over anything else.

Miami is another possibility.
Trade S. Jackson soon. NJ seems like a nice place for him.
