Okay nate, we get it...he sucks. However, he'll contribute far more than Ross was going to do and it's a one year rental. Most of you are saying that you weren't expecting much in terms of moves this year, but the fact that you are harping on this aspect proves that we are getting a little bit caught up in the "Free Agency 2010!!!" hype....which we weren't going to be major players in anyway.

I also pegged you as a reasonably intelligent cat. How do you continue to miss the point here?

See, this is why I am happy with this trade and averse to most Arenas deals. Cap space is entirely overrated when it comes to the Wizards. I'll say it again, Cap space is ENTIRELY overrated when it comes to the Wizards.

Dealing Arenas for Cap space will only yield us the Kirk Hinrich and Yi Jianlians of the world. We will never replace his production that way and the team will be set back for it.

Get me a different GM and then we can talk about Cap space.

Beasley? He's more talented than Yi, but he'd definitely be a step backwards in terms of character.

Who else? The Knicks aren't desperate to clear any more cap room, are they?

And, what about at the trading deadline? Then, the ideal trading partner would be bad teams - with (a) young assets and/or (b) picks - in danger of hitting the luxury tax threshold. NOH? They already made their BOYD trade. ORL is carrying a ton of salary, but they're contenders unlikely to dump assets just to get under the tax.

Who else?

Great question. The Jazz immediately come to mind if they keep Boozer, but I would think we'd have heard something by now if they were really interested in that. AK47 makes too much to really be a legit BOYD candidate. Ronnie Price and CJ Miles (TO) are the only other expirings and their combined $5M in salary would probably be all that would be needed to get the Jazz under the tax. Would that be worth a future first to them?

I'm not excited about this move, but I see that Yi only turns 23 at the beginning of the season and we can dump him at the end of the year if he doesn't pan out. If he's as bad as some of you think, at least he helps us tank for another year without taking up long term cap space.

Edit: See Ed Wood's post below and mine later on this page. He may be turning 26.

I can one-up you.

Here is the list of guys 6-8 or taller, in the shot clock era, who have managed to play at least 25 minutes a game while posting a FG% less than 41% and a rebound rate less than 8 rebounds per 36 minutes:

I dont get why we didnt go for Beasley....he has the most upside of the players available. I thought we were rebuilding.

There's a reason why people are staying away from Beasley. Ok, there is more than one reason why NBA teams are staying away.

May I ask why everyone is hating everything that we the Wizards are doing this off season so far? All except John Wall? Everyone is so negative about this team. Stop being a hater. Have some faith and hope on for this long train ride. It's leaving with or without you so mind as well enjoy it.

Of course, you can play the same game with all 7 footers with a 3 point % greater than 34%...

Oh. Yeah. Did everyone forget that we are REBUILDING? Why would any top free agents want to sign here? I don't know how many really good established players want to play for a losing team.
