Kahn at Target Field

Post#1 » by Klomp » Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:19 am

Robby Inc just interviewed him.

Kahn: "Without tipping our hand too much, I suspect we'll be back here (at Target Field) later this week with some guys."

Using the Twins as a marketing tool.....

I think we can all read between the lines. JR Giddens and Johan Petro come on down!

If I had to guess, I bet he brings his guys to a game for a few minutes to show them how great the Minnesota fans are. Twins will be playing the blue jays, who aren't a major rival, and I expect the place to be pretty full.

A considerably less favorable comp. Johnson's age (he'll be 23 by the time summer-league play tips off) is a red flag.

That would require Rubio to actually get off his butt and be proactive about his future in the NBA.

It would make sense for Rubio to attend. I believe his presence could encourage a free agent to sign here if it appears that he's dedicated to playing in Minnesota and promoting the team. If it helps sign a FA, than he has more to work with in 2011. You see the same thing with all the major free agents trying to work together in order to succeed in the future.

Rubio is not going to come out and make a move as savvy as that.

Ya I know. Be nice if he was chilling at Target Field. I bet he would get a nice reception over there granted the Twins fans remember Minnesota still has a basketball team. I'd get beer for him until he turned 21 if he did show up. He would have to repay me though because I'm just going to supply the ID, I'm not doing any favors.

Kahn's bringing a group of RealGM posters to the game. I guess not everyone got the invite.

Look out for Amir Johnson. I have a hunch he is someone we will look at for front court depth in the event Big Al is traded.

He is only 23. He was in Detroit with Ronzone. He has apparently grown two inches since joining the league and is 6'11" now, so he could play both front court positions.

Just a hunch.

I have the same hunch I even mentioned this before. It makes sense if you think about it. He could really blossom here and possibly take his game to the next level. Dude got skills.

Call me crazy, but I still think we have a chance at Amare. I think he will be the first guy Kahn calls. What other teams will call him up as their number one target in free agency? Maybe the Nets, but thats it. I'd think that'd be important to him.

I'd think he'd also have to consider the fact of possibly not getting enough touches next to Lopez in NJ, and he'd be in a halfcourt system. Here, he'd be the number one option in a system he's flourished in. And how many people would prefer Newark to Minneapolis? Not many, I'd guess....

GET IT DONE KAHN!!!!

hmmm...intriguing, I hadn't thought of that before. He'll obviously probably never be a star, but he would bring good speed and athleticism to the 4 spot as a rotational player as well as some shot blocking (1.0 blocks in 15 mpg for his career)...he's developed into a solid rotational player and he's still only 23. This would seem like a Martell Webster-esque acquisition (young vet that has showed promise that could really shine given the opportunity). Everybody who has significant cap space is going to be preoccupied with LeBron/Wade/Bosh/Amare/Dirk/JJ/Boozer/Lee and whoever I'm probably forgetting. I think it makes too much sense for Kahn not to pursue.

Maybe I'm forgetting something, but when did Amare play in the system that Rambis runs?
