So the short-term answer for a better record is to play Granger at the 4 with Hibbert at the 5. Most people on here don't like this. I do. Granger's numbers in the post are nice, and his defensive numbers in the post are probly more impressive. When players post him up, he pokes the ball away a lot, and he occasionally gets a nice block. More defense from Granger and definitely more offense. Not to mention a mismatch advantage in favor of the Pacers.

depends a lot on Hansbrough, doesn't it? If PsychoT deserves PT, there is less time for Danny at the 4. but if he is still hurt, it'll be easy to find 24 minutes for Danny at the 4. whether that should come at the start of the game or the end is a separate question. we tend to pay too much attention to who starts.

in either event, I think Hibbert needs to play higher. he's a good passer and is used to playing a high post from college. moving him higher gives Danny more room to take his man inside. Rush and D Jones are also good on the drive.

a big problem with Hibbert and Murphy on the floor together is that Roy tends to pick up fouls trying to cover when Murphy gets beat. I think the answer to that (other than to just concede the layup) is to play more zone defense.

The offense should run through Hibbert(can go wherever he wants and will still make a play) and to solve the murphy getting beat problem, trade him now. I wouldn't be opposed to not letting him see a minute this season but then he almost has no trade value at the deadline if we keep him. But by some miracle Troy murphy doesn't get traded during the deadline and were in a the race 8 seed, 9th seed 2 games out. Murphy shouldn't see a minute the rest of the season.

Interesting that the Pacer website would provide all that detail basically telling the world that this Murphy/Hibbert combination doesn't work. I really have no desire to spend another year watching the Pacers try to make this ill conceived pair work. Is there a more unathletic center/power forward combination in the entire NBA? Does anyone else think a combination of Hansbrough, McRoberts and a small line up replacing Murphy would make the Pacers better?

Before the summer is over some trade involving Murphy that returns cap space will probably be necessary to fund the free agent point guard that has to be signed.

bold players are on teams that made the playoffs, and are also more athletic than the other groups. Athleticism gives you a better chance to make it to the playoffs.

Wilcox and B. Wallace, from a pure athletic stand point both are superior athletes to Muphy and Hibbert. Not more skilled by any means.
Brand/Dalembert, even at his reduced capacity Brand is still a better athlete than Murphy
Thomas/Bogut, Bogut is clearly a better athlete than Hibbert
Gasol/Thabeet, Thabeet never plays, Randolph is a better athlete than Murphy
Okur/Fesenko, Fesenko? Try Okur and Milsap, Milsap much better athlete than Murphy
Jefferson/Milicic, Jefferson a better athlete than Murphy

Potentially Brand is better athlete, but in reality as of now he's not.

Gasol and Thabeet were the starters at the begining of the season, maybe not now that Thabeet is in the D-League though(makes me laugh)

Okur and Fesenko was Utahs starting lineup almost all season this year.

Also Smits and Davis werent very athletic and that worked for us.

Its not that i don't like Murphy. Call it impatience more than anything else. I can actually see where Hibbert and Hansbrough could be a pretty effective power forward/center combination. That and drafting a Granger clone has to mean playing the small lineup more. So I'm saying get on with it rather than continuing with this Murphy/Hibbert pairing that will at best render a mediocre result.
